Delayed ND 1000yd BR results
attached are the ND results for June & July
btw
in view of the fact that due to weather and delayed scheduling problems with our 1000yd BR matches at times, and because some interested competitors do not have access to IBS 1000yd BR at their home clubs etc,
after some recent discussion and seeing as we are not playing for sheep stations etc, we have decided to include the best 10 matches achieved by competitors during the year.(this includes the SCC as well) to determine the overall LG and HG Postal results.
if some clubs are behind in running their designated number of matches for 2016 and wish to run extra matches to make the 10 match quota - no problems just send in the results once the matches have been completed.
the rough postal progressive tabulation will be posted in a day or two
cheers

Re: Delayed ND 1000yd BR results
g'day grant
I appreciate and understand your situation and dilemma.
the following comments are not aimed at you or anyone else but are just an attempt at summarising our present problems.
it all used to be quite simple when we kicked of the Postals in 2009.
in those days we had Canberra, Townsville and Narromine (Brisbane were invited but were not interested) mainly involved with matches held in March, May, July, September and November.
Subsequently it was great to see South Australia, Corryong and Western Australia all join which made things even better.
But (ain't there always a BUT) then as events developed such as the pre mentioned weather factors, internal club decisions, club schedules and programmes changed, electronic targets emerged, politics and government regulations shut ranges and prevented some clubs from shooting 1000yds etc ALL OF WHICH HAVE SEEN OUR NUMBERS REDUCE!!
With all these existing problems and factors it is very hard to be fair to all and avoid complaints.
Some may remember that we used to shoot 10 matches during the year and take the best 6 results for the determination of the aggs for score and group.
last year we included the SCC results in the Postals because as it was an IBS Australian event, it was decided and (I agree) that some shooters may or may not have access to IBS at there own clubs and therefore deserved to be included and recognised for their IBS results, both here and on the Virginia Website.
Then to do this, is it fair to leave out those who had home club IBS matches but also shot in the SCC???
So for 2015 we included 5 designated postals plus the SCC results and used the best 6 results for the Postal Result compilations.(ie quite a few people had 12 results for the year in total, but would have been 14 if not for the fog).
BTW the inclusion of the SCC did effect the overall yearly aggs for some people in the Final results and placings.
Also, had the Gunpro 1000 event run as planned this year with the SCC (to IBS rules), then using the same reasoning the Gunpro competitors would have been entitled to have their results in this years overall Postal results.
There is also the situation that happened last year and this year where due to family and personal illness factors (not myself in this case) some shooters could not attend their club's designated match dates but attended the SCC and deservedly had their results recognised for the Postals ( and on the Virginia Website) and to achieve their required 6 match minimum quota..
For the first time, at ND this year we have been running 1000yd BR matches roughly every 5 weeks (apart from the SCC) because we have a group of new, eager to learn LRBR shooters who tell me they love shooting 1000yds benchrest.
In this situation, what is the best system for our shooters to nominate their matches for the year?
What happens if they have already shot a few matches, but have nominated their Postal matches later in the year, but then unforseen family, illness or work factors eventuate and they can't attend al of their nominated matches. Is it fair that they can then use their previous results while others in the club cannot ?
Some may also be of the opinion that there should be some type of incentive or reward for those who are prepared to make the effort to shoot extra matches during the year.
Given all of these and other variables,if anyone has any suggestions for a fair system to suit all contingencies in 2017, feel free to pm or discuss them here.
cheers

Re: Delayed ND 1000yd BR results
Hi Dave,
I deleted my post before you replied as I received a phone call explaining the situation.
As i read it I thought the change would mean shooting ten targets to qualify which given the circumstances re weather etc would have made things difficult.
I think it's a good decision to have extra shoots and the decision to include the SCC is as it should be.
It is considered our Nationals shot under the IBS rules and should count.
Having extra targets to choose from also makes it a little easier for those that don't have easy access to a range for testing.Often one tests during a postal and you take the risk if it doesn't work there goes those targets!
Heres hoping we can keep building numbers for a strong 2017 competition.
Regards
Grant.

Re: Delayed ND 1000yd BR results
hi grant
no problems
I should have provided a better explanation.
why I used the 10 match figure is because to match up with Virginia, they run a 10 match programme (ie 5 postal comparisons) and we submit 10 match results for our five postal comparisons during the year.
however for the ExtraVision -Optimus Australian internal Postal Match Championship results, the minimum for the aggs is 6 matches.
Also, for the ExtraVision -Optimus Australian internal Postal Match Championship, and given all the possible scenarios, it is hard to define or limit competitors to a maximum number of matches.
just doing some of the tabulations for this years postals, as an example, it is quite possible for anyone in Townsville or Narromine who attends all the matches to have well over 10 club matches (not including the SCC).
next year at ND depending on the weather, there are 12 club matches planned, plus 4 for the SCC and 2 for the Gunpro if it is a 1000yd BR event.
visitors, also depending if they have home 1000yd BR matches or not, will have the possibility of either adding 6 matches to their quota if they attend the SCC or just use the 6 matches from the SCC week to make their postal quota.
cheers
