Re: July N-D 1000yd BR results
A question about the results... What does the mode refer to?
There's traditional, international and standard. I guess that they probably relate somehow to blind versus marked but 3 into 2 doesn't work so I reckon i'm wrong with that guess.

Re: July N-D 1000yd BR results
mate
the mode refers to the style of shooting that the competitors are able to choose. Std or International.
at N-D competitors are free to choose either method. also as an incentive to those who use 308 or 223 calibres a sub category competition class is provided.- the JC trophy for the smallest group agg in both Std and International classes.
Traditional or blind is as per International rules, that is, the competitor receives no feedback from the target during the shooting of the record target.
guesswork, experience, allowances, interpolation or whatever!!! is used to hopefully ensure that:-
* firstly all shots are on the target
* secondly that the shots are grouped together
* thirdly, which can really test the friendship, that the group formed is in the centre region of the target.
Standard or marked is an australian derivative used by some, in which the location of all shots on the record target are shown as the shooter completes his/her target.eg. if the first shot is off target or in the centre or wherever, the competitor has the advantage of being shown the location and then compensating by altering the aiming point if needed for the next shot and for all subsequent shots.
actually, due to my typo, which has now been corrected, the N-D club has changed the name of "traditional" to "International" ,as shooters who choose to shoot this way can genuinely compare their results with those achieved by any individual member, club or organisation that exists in the USA.
The fact is that, the USA are the originators and home of world 1000yd benchrest. The results they achieve, speak for themselves.
So in my opinion, if you want to be compared with the best, it makes sense and is equitable to adapt to their rules and procedures.
BTW, the IBS organisation approve and recognise what we are doing in an effort to foster and develop our local 1000yd BR competitions and International LRBR affiliations.
All positives, no negatives
cheers
