I'm wanting to get myself a bipod, and I've read enthusiastic praise for Harris. There are several models though. I want to use it at the range on my CZ 452 .22LR varmint, and also field shooting my Tikka T3 syn/stain .223 varmint.
I've been using a Caldwell Rock and front rest on the bench, but found there is not enough vertical travel for shooting prone in the field.
Some reviewers prefer the model with swivel (tilt) but others say they are difficult to tighten to stop flop.
As I'm 6'2" ,I was going to choose the 9"-13" with swivel.
Does anyone out there have experience with bipods like this for similar use?[img][/img]

order the pod loc from sinclair, it allows you to tighten the swivel with a lever, no fuss. yes, make sure you get the swivel model

I have both a Harris and a Parker Hale. The P&H is by far the superior bipod in that is easily removable and has greater tracking ability.

Another variant of the P&H is the Versa-Pod, it also features the quick release and spigot attachment.
I also considered dissambling the Bipod and using a portion of Loctite (allowing it to dry before reassembly) however, they are supposed to have a degree of movement in them as this allows for tracking.

I also recently sourced a tightening system, which is nothing more then a plastic lever.

These can be sourced in Australia, however I was given mine through the maintenance division at work and given that it is a little worn I am unable to identify the manufacturers logo.

i've got the Harris with swivel and notched legs, and the pod lock.
With the pod lock you can adjust it to full lock or put just enough tension
on it to move the cant of the rifle on uneven ground.
i've been using it for years no problems. i also use the br model with swivel and p/lock
when shooting f/class. hope this helps.

I have two Harris bipods I cant speak for any other brand but I do like the harris. I have a 9-13" swivel model and a 6-9" fixed model. I prefer the swivel to the fixed as it is a lot more user freindly on uneven terrain. As for the height I prefer the smaller one when shooting over the bonnet (I often pinch Elmer Fudds as he has the 6-9" but with the swivel). The 9-13 is ok prone but sometimes is a bit high. I am 6" tall but have a barrel chest (and these days a fat gut ) but I find the 6-9 with the notched leg the most usefull. Having both is an advantage as I can swap but if I had to select just one then it would be the 6-9".
