Svord Knives

Has anyone here had any experience with these Knives.The one that takes my eye is the B&T (Bird and Trout)

Made in NZ by master cutler Bryan Baker, each knife is hand crafted with attention paid to heat treating each blade. Bryan uses high quality carbon steel and knows just what it takes to produce a knife with razor sharp edge. I have personally used one for the past decade or so now and believe they are capable of holding a sharp edge longer than many others i have sampled.
As stated on previous occasions, Svord knives in my opinion don't have any fancy, gimmicky looks to them and are more so very plain in appearance, however, its their performance that counts and these are a definite work hose. Bryan's hardening and tempering process is a well kept secret and what gives his knives the edge.
Widely used in NZ my many professional venison recovery operators, they are indeed a pleasure to use. In fact one well known meat shooter from Te Anau, taking 15-25 deer in a days work says his Svord will gut and dress 3 or 4 deer with ease before requiring sharpening.
One of my favourites is the little ''Bird and Trout" caper. A knife I've owned and used for years and ideal for caping out a deer head or simply skinning a fox or carcass.

Yeah they sound mighty strong and i arnt all that fussed about how fancy a knife looks with engravings.

Iam after a working knife so Function before form but that said a Foxwell Hunter is on the desired list

So something rugged and heavy duty sort of thing, nice price.
I was flicking through magazine, there is some good prices on the Boker's.

I'Ve had a 6 1/2 inch pig sticker for about 6 years and its done pigs ,gutted barra and all manner of camp tasks.
Keeps a great edge and easy to sharpen,came with a well made sheath as well.
I actually got it as a gift from a mate that went to NZ.
Definitely would love another.

They are all i own,

My favourite being my Kiwi Dragon but im biased because im a Kiwi. Actually my Dad sent me all of my knives as he found them to be a sure fired way to take the guesswork out of presents.

Well my Bird and Trout is in my LGS and will be in my hands on Sunday afternoon .

Antony my LGS told me that the old mate still does hand written invoices .He is not related to the old fella with the worlds fastest Indian by any chance

You can not go wrong with any of these blades.

I used to collect and make semi custom knifes about 10 years ago. All the high end stainless blades required to much time and attention to sharpen in the field.

The svord blade custom steel sharpens with a few passes across a diamond pad.

I have since gotten rid of all my collection and kept 2 blades - both svord - the one i use consistently is the marked 'fk' in the current sporting shooter. From memory i bought it directly from svord about 10 years ago.
