Re: bore guide
hi mate, i just use the gunslick universal bore guide for my 223. cost me around $60.
i hear the really good quality bore guides have the rubber o ring on the tip of the guide, allthough i couldn't find any when i purchased mine.

Re: bore guide
I use the Possum Hollow Products Inc Bore Guide #2 has the rubber ring on the tip in my Savage 12vlp 223 also fits my 204. I got it from Hinterland Shooting Supplies QLD works a treat.

Re: bore guide
I use a bore guide for my rem 700s , the guys name is Pete and yep his company is Petes Bore guides. I havent got his ph number , but he is at every gun show up at Penrith and he has a mechanical work shop down at Arncliffe. I also noticed that Bankstown GS now stock them. He might even do you a one off ! Cheers Ron

Re: bore guide
Peters phone number is 91507367 or 0408119263
His guides have an O ring to prevent solvent leaking into the bedding and a slot so solvent can be applied to the brush. The hole for the rod to fit through is quite snug to give good rod elignment preventing wear to the start of the bore.
Most barrels are ruined through insufficient cleaning or wreckless use of the cleaning rod, rough jags and brushes. Plastic coated rods imbed with grit when placed on a dusty surface or cement benchrest top. A good rod guide will extend the accuracy life of a barrel, I wouldn't clean without one.
His guides are excellent and most importantly they are Aussie made.

Re: bore guide
Any bore guide you can push a patch or brush through is of no use and may actually be worse for your barrel.
If you can buy one that has 2 parts. Part A goes into the reciever, Part B goes onto the cleaning rod and needs to be a guage fit then you put your brush or jag on. Part B goes into Part A and then you clean. They are slower to use but far better.

Re: bore guide
Has anybody got a picture of Pete's guides? Are they 1 or 2 piece? Called him today and will get back to hime tomorrow if they look sound OK. Also emailed Mike Lucas and will see how much they are. Pete's would be far easier to get but from a few different people, sounds like mike's are the goods.

Re: bore guide
Well ordered a lucas last night direct from Mike. Should be posted by new year. $52US posted here and easier to pay him than Pete. Reckon that is pretty good when the exchange rate is as good as it is now.
