has anyone tried or uses these scopes? what do you think of them and what do they compare to?

I could think of a fair few better scopes for the money.

Got a few, like them a lot. Overpriced here in Aus. Compare local prices with TOZ before buying. My second choice after Leupold for hunting rifles.

Built in the Philippines, but quality is right up there (Nikon got into the scope market slowly with a small range and have increased according to demand - and Nikon don't sell shit gear) with great prices from the US.

Prostaff models about equal in performance with VX-1, Buckmaster equal or better than VX-II and Monarch with VX-III but have not compared them with VX-3 which are a big improvement over the old VX-III models.

I prefer the standard Plex reticle over the BDC - the reticle doesn't match those in Leupold though, it is quite a bit thicker - not a bad thing if used for spotlighting though.

I have a 6-24 monarch on my swift and a 6-8 monarch handgun scope on my 7TCU. can't fault either of them for the price and they did come from TOZ.

hmmm vx3 prices seem on par with the buckmaster range and if vx3 is better than vx111 series i think i'll spend on a leupy.

least i know what to expect that way.

As I said mate, local prices are way over the top. When Granite had them they were not even a viable consideration, the local gun shops wouldn't carry them. New distributor and now available in LGS but still a lot cheaper to buy from TOZ. Recent local magazines have had them advertised and prices run 200-300% higher than TOZ, which is a hell of a lot considering the near parity in exchange rates current.

Puts the much bewailed Leupold mark up pale in comparison, as does a check of the local versus international prices of the Zeiss Conquest range. The Conquest, Nikon Monarch, VX-III are equal in performance (to my eyes), the new VX-3 better than all of them IMO. I actually prefer my old Vari-X III 6.5-20x50 over my Conquest 6.5-20x50.

One recent purchase that has really impressed me is a Weaver Classic Extreme (with 30mm tube). Far better scope than I expected - bought sight unseen I was really surprised at how sharp and clear it is.

Yeh mate, the Leupold prices have dropped heaps over the past couple of months - my VX-3 3.5-10x40 is now over $100 cheaper than when I bought it at the start of the year and the VX-3 truly is a clear improvement over the VX-III (which IMO wasn't much, if any, better than the Vari-X III - an upgrade in 'features' rather than performance).

Before you decide, check out the Nikon prices at TOZ though mate and compare with Aussie advertised prices. The local Nikon distributors have got a huge markup over US retail.

The guy didn't ask about buying overseas but I have seen the prices here
and my statement stands. Yes they do make good glass and they did take
a while to come into the market, and did it slowly.

Pretty much the same as stated earlier.
I bought a buckmaster 6-18x40SF from TOZ. If i bought in Aus i could have got a Bushnell trophy or maybe a VX1.

I have a Nikon Monarch 4 x 16 SF. A very good value buy from TOZ.

can someone please post a link for TOZ? i can't find it.

hey does anyone know why there aren't any leupy's on the midway international site? they have them listed but look them and no search results found.

Because US dealers are not allowed to sell outside the US. A couple of sites used to but have stopped, Bluebazooka wont ship Leupold anymore. If you want a Leupy PM me and I can set you up with one from a US company.

I just bought a nikon monarch 8-32x50 on a rifle I intended to do part time target shooting part time spotlighting. Midsouth had them on special and even with exxy postage came in cheaper than TOZ. Gets its first run at the weekend
