Shooting rail for the spotlighting rig.
Hey all I have decided to make a shooting rail to fit to the door of my landcruiser to make it a more complete shooting rig. For me the door is too low to comfortably shoot from and a rail a little further out and about 15-20 cm higher should be the ducks guts. Just wondering if anyone has made one and any advice for me.
I was thinking of making one to slip onto the door via 2 "u" rails and the rail itself mounted onto them with rods going out on a diagonal to the desired position. The rail would then be padded.
Having one that could lift off the door would allow me to take it off if I drive on the roads.
Thoughts???

It's a wagon mate. Got the "car" style mirrors on. Already thought of that. one of my mates made up a thing like that but it looks VERY agricultural. No worries for him as the rig never leaves that farm but mine sometimes does.

mate, i'm having the same ideas for my navara. already came up with a design but to get some bastard fabricator just to bend pipe cost 170 smakers for 4 farking bends. told em to stick it but most places charge like tax accountants. the steel only came to $35. will get back to you on it when i make something up.
i'm thinking suction cups as a possibility..... something in bunnings maybe??

i reckon your about right with your dimensions. i figured i'd put mine out from the door by a foot and up about 8 or 9 inches. the mirrors on the nav seem a little low for my liking and i reckon getting the rifle out over the door so you can support the rear of the stock feels way better.

The big irons arent bad, will prob have to replace the plastic adjuster strap connector though. easy as to do. 2 D rings will do it.

Mate are the bends 90 degree's or more custom? if they are 90 you can buy 90 degree bends on their own. Have you tried an exhaust shops and mr c ash usually helps.

G'Day I cut up and used one of those two wheels trolleys you use to move furniture and stuff.
Found it on the side of the road at a council clean up.
25mm tube and all the bends you need

I saw another homemade one on another website, it was made from PVC tube and looked very easy to make. From memory it hooked over the window and extended further out.

Nice PVC is easy to forget but it does make sense nice and light easy to cut and you can get high on the glue
