Butt Plate/Recoil Pad Removal

I am not sure if this the right section.

Anyway does anyone have any idea how to remove the butt Plate for Remington Police 700 .308. This is the model before they put the R3 recoil pads with HS stock. The pad on it is only thin rubber with backing plate.

I know the normal process is to use a screw driver to undo a couple of screws that attach it to the stock. This does not have and identifiable screw heads. I want to remove it to put a limbsaver pad. I am stumped.

Any advise appreciated

Cheers

I havn't tried this but it is supposed to work, freeze the stock for a day and then a sharp rap with a dead blow hammer/mallet will remove the pad with out damage.

Regards Chris.

I believe that the pad is glued in place. I don't know how to go about getting it off though.

Can you clean up the remaining plastic bit and stick a new pad onto it?

I'll try that but I am not sure how the Limbsaver pads attach to the stock. It seems like a stupid system.

a man at the shooty club removes the rubber kick pad of a stock that has no screws by heating up a fish filleting knife and slice the pad off.
would have to be carful with the synthetic stock.
cheers
