Sling Swivel Stud tricks?

Post by Detritus »

G'day all,
Just wondering what ideas anyone might have as to getting a sling swivel stud to stay straight. It screws in tight but stops a bit over a quater of a turn too far.
Put something in the hole to limit the last bit of rotation? Araldite or locktight the thing?
Its just one of those silly pet peeves I know  ... but would appreciate any known fixes.

Cheers!

Try a small plastic washer between the stud and the stick.

If it is still slightly out, sand the washer down a fraction.

Cheers

What sort of screw is it mate, a wood screw thread going straight into timber or a metal thread going into a glued into the stock nut type thingo. May be simply a matter of getting it screwed in about half way and giving the stud head a tap to loosen the nut in the stock, turning the nut a tad and screwing the swivel back in - may need to dick around with it a bit to get it lined up right.

Thanks for the tips.
Yeah I probably should have specified what the deal was first off-
Its a Kimber Montana 8400, kevlar stock jobby ( second one actually, first one sent back due to collapsed recoil pad).
So yeah, metal thread going into some sort of nut thing in the forend. Guess I'll whip it out of the stock for a squiz in the morning and make a decision as to which of the two suggestions I feel competent enough to take on
Hmmm... and have a think where to source small plastic washers from

Cheers for the quick replies guys!

Easiest place to find small plastic washers is an ice cream container - trim the edges for a perfect fit.
