Sinclairs postage costs

Post by Muttang »

Probably a hard one to guage, but how much does it cost for postage for stuff ordered from Sinclairs?? Just after some dies and cleaning gear and anything that pops into my head when I am ordering stuff.

G'day muttang,
I just received a box today from sinclairs, approx 12"x12"x5", weight 6.54lbs, postage USPS Int'l priority mail (air mail) cost USD $52.30 (AUD $54.95) and 7 days from order to delivery.

It was relatively heavy as I had books in the box, but I usually estimate around AUSD $30-$40 and i'm pretty close to the mark. BTW, todays box weight would be one of the heaviest I've ever brought in.

hope this helps

G'Day all,
I'm not entirely sure but I do believe that there is NO surface mail out of the US these days, only air mail. Possibly for security/screening purposes.....

But you can always ask.

That's news Ned. No mention of it on their website, so I'm glad I requested it by air.

G'Day Dave,
My understanding is all mail out of the US is only via airmail. Surface mail does not exist anymore, nothing is shipped; only flown. But, I also understand that you can get surface mail out of canada though.

It is not a sinclair policy, all US business's are in this boat, but others may have further details to add to this .......or tell me i'm wrong as well  :D

Hmm :| :|
I think I may be in for a shock  when they email me to tell me the freight charge on my order. Case trimmer and pilots accessories etc, Dies x2, bullet comparitor, flashhole uniformer, hand primer, Ogre6br's stuff ( not much weight in that though) other sundry items.
It all adds up. I cant wait :P :P

Cabelas still ship by surface according to their website and the email I just recieved confirming my order. Downside is the delivery time - could be a couple of months- but I don't mind as I'm stocking up while the Oz dollar is good
Sinclair orders have been around the $40-50 mark and arrived within 7 days.
There are two freight carriers operating from the states UPS and USPS. For a recent parcel from Enco the airfreight charges by UPS International were $115.46 and USPS International was $42.18. I elected to use USPS and the stuff arrived in about a week.
Cheers

just carrying on about Cabela's ( straying sorry ), I was given a choice of at least 2 freight methods on a recent buy. The faster method was charged at 20% of the purchased goods price and next fastest @ 10%. Any how being the tight ass that I am, went the cheap way and the parcel still got here in 10 days from ordering.

Me computer + mail order + US$ rate + credit card fast sending me broke.

I'm happy to say that you seem to be correct- the stuff I ordered from Cabelas and elected to have sent by cheapest method (surface mail according to their website) was sent by USPS airmail and arrived today. 9 days after placing order! It seems that USPS airmail is so cheap that surface mail has got the flick.
I think I'm in danger of maxing out the credit card :D
