Wild Dog stocks

Have read a few negative comments in relation to Wild Dog's customer service on this forum in recent weeks . Thought I'd relate my experience with them to add a little balance to the story .
Have been speaking to Don and Steve from Wild Dog stocks recently about a new stock for a Stiller Predator that Shane Clancy is building me . Ultimately I ordered a stock about 3 weeks ago . Subsequently changed my mind on colour scheme twice . They didn't bat an eyelid at the inconvenience . Then after reading a couple of posts here I was sufficiently concerned about their customer service to email and cancel my order. They emailed and rang me and we talked thru some of the issues that one of their critics had . They even offered to send me a stock to look at seeing as there are no gun shows in W.A. where you can do that sort of thing .
All I can say is that in my experience their customer service has been outstanding and that I will be re-ordering my stock .
I'd really like to see these guys do well as we can certainly use a good synthetic stock manufacturer in Oz . I was quoted US$160 freight to bring a stock out of the U.S. a few days ago . Have had a previous problem with one of the major U.S. manufacturer's shoddy workmanship and non existent customer service .
Local businesses often get a bagging on the various internet forums . I'm guilty of taking too much notice of what I read at times . Before you write these guys off try talking to them yourself .

bushchook,

Good to see you giving the locals a go. We tend to forget that without the importers, manufacturers and shops here we dont have an industry at all. Its good to save some dollars and import yourself but you must give some money to the industry particularly those who do the right thing, or we won't have an industry left.

cheers

I've spoken/emailed Wild dog a couple of times about potential projects, and they've been very helpful, even when I've gone elsewhere and let them know that.
They will get an order from me at some time in the future.

I really dont have anything against Wilddog stocks, but that ammo box in the butt WTF?? Order one without!

I was looking at their tactical line, but $$$$$$$$$$.. $1000Aus.

Manners rifle stocks for me, good value and great designs!

Cheers

Not big on the ammo box myself but each to their own .
Manners are well priced but do you have experience with their quality ? They certainly look OK but that doesn't mean much .
A McMillan A5 with adjustable cheekpiece and length of pull works out fairly similar to the Wild Dog by the time the "recommended U.S. supplier" adds US$160 in freight . Carbon fibre is an optional extra too on McMillan . Significant wait involved too if you want to choose your own colour scheme .

I criticised their service. They do a CZ rimfire stock. I wanted to find out if they would do a 527. I asked in Elks as they are listed as a distributor. I was told they dont. I said i would ring and ask. The guy in Elks said if you get through ask them to call me, I've been trying for a week.

So I rang, they said they might be able to do it as a special order and would check and get back to me. I even emailed them to make sure they had the question in writing and my contact details.

No phone call, no email. If they said no upfront then OK, but they said they would try and then just forgot it.

I'm glad you are all having great service, I will just go by my own experiences. My A5 was $708 Aussie to my door including credit card fees.

do they advertise that they make custom stocks?

if this is what some of you are having issues with, maybe theres the problem. they sell what they sell and that might be how they run their business. there is no profit in one offs.

i emailed them about air rifle stocks and they straight up said that they won't be making any, ever.

easy question, easy answer.

Trevort ,
Could just be a breakdown in communications technology too . Telstra reckon it never happens in Australia . Must be another Australia somewhere .
Can't see why they'd go to so much trouble to ring and email me but ignore you .

From what I have read and heard, the Manners are a well made stock.

As I said above, the designs of the stocks, delivery time, and price are all very good.

Each stock design had major input from shooters, which has resulted in great designs.

I plan on buying a Manners very soon for my 338LM project, most likely the T4A!

JT ,
Yeah no way freight should cost $160 but I could copy and paste the quote I was given by the same guy that sold Trevort his stock .
Shouldn't really speculate on reason for the big difference in quotes . He may have a valid reason but didn't go to the trouble to explain it .
