Hi All,
Just wanted to know what the reasons are for your scope choice.
I have a fixed 6x 32 Leopold on my 204 sako, used mostly for spotlighting.
A 6x in my experience is adequate to shoot rabbit + sized critters under a standard spotlight.
A 32 objective so it can be mounted low enough to still have a slight cheek weld.
The scope is also mounted with the windage turret used for elevation so cases will eject properly.
My Fclass guns have 50-60 power scopes but that's another story.

any scope you can see threw and holds constant zero is fine.
my 22 rabbit/cat gun has a 3.5-10x50 vortex xfire with V-plex ret.
brilliant in day or under light.
for TR i use my eyes

20/222 wears a 4.5 14x50 Side focus Zeiss Conquest, I use it mainly on 10 power during the night and go up to 14 during the day. Why is a good question, bit like how long is a piece of string as most will have their various reasons. My eyes aren't as good as they used to be so a bit more magnification is welcome, Side focus is great to give clear picture and a rough range estimate.

I use Hilver mounts exclusively, they are strong and have never had a problem with them unless I haven't done them up tight enough, use low rings on either 1 or two piece stud bases, even with heavy barrels and a 50mm objective lense, have never had any trouble on any rifles with getting a good sight picture, and have never had any trouble with bolt handles getting restricted.

17/222 wears a 6.5-20x50 side focus, same brand, 10 power at night, and up to the top during the day, same reasons as above, and just cause I like the.

CZ453 Varmint in 22 runs the same scope as the 20/222, but I mainly use it on 8 power

I could go on, but the story keeps repeating.

yeah but thats cause your so old you forgot that youve already told that story

While I have been happy with a 6x on the 204, at some stage I'd like to give my 6 dasher with the 10-60 march a go on some bunnies.
This might change my "view" on using low power scopes...

I really like to see what I am shooting at either under lights or on the range or when I am reaching out a long way during the day or at dusk.
I see myself returning to some more euro glass in the future. Really regret letting my S&B and big Ziess go when I moved into F class. Live and learn.

I would be nervous spotlighting on 6 power!

My favorite spotlighting scope is the burris black diamond 4-16x50 that I've been using for 11 years. It sits on 12 at night.
Easy to pick up the target, bright and bot overly sensitive to parallax or eye position. Being on my 6/250 gives it a head start I suppose. And since they aren't made anymore probably not a useful comment! I would be keen to try the burris veracity.

I haven't had my zeiss scopes long enough to use too much but pretty happy so far and very keen to try the NF illuminated reticle, in fact might do so this weekend!

For a Spotlighting scope I like to go for the KISS principle.

I have two Ziess Conquest scopes a 4.5-14x44 and 4.5-14x50 both with side focus

A Sightron bigsky 3-12x42 with AO

I use all three at 12x and do not touch the side focus or AO on any

I had Two 6-20x50 Conquests that I found I had to use the side focus so moved them on.

I am in the process of moving back to Sightron S111`s for a bit of medium range work and for a spotlighting scopes.

In my dreams for a dedicated spotlighting scope I would go for a large objective in the 3-12 power range,Euro glass something along the lines of a Ziess 3-12x56 Victory or 3-12x50 Duralyt.Kahles 3-12x56 or S+B 3-12x50.Reality is far from my dreams unfortunately.

Durabilty,Clarity,colour rendition and brightness are what I look for.

.223 has the factory issue 3-9x40 works well enough, but looking forward to replacing it sooner rather than later

The 204 R now wears a 5-25 NF SHV. Why... the 6 -18 Leupy was shit at night but great during the day. We really like it so far.

The 20 Vartarg has a 3-12 x 56 kahles helia C. because it came up at a really good price at the time. I is just perfect for the spot light work at 8 - 10 power it make very fast target acquisition can not fault it.

Sightron SIII with MOA reticle

I got my first one we i saw the reticle. I liked the idea of 2moa hash marks with a floating dit int he centre, combine that with 100moa of travel int eh 6-24 and it had everything i needed. When i got it i loved it, at the time i had a few VX3's and a Mk4 and i sold them all and bought more Sightrons. I now have them in 3.5-10, 6-24, 8-32 & 10-50 all with the same MOA retilce. There is a slight variation between the MOA2 and MOA3 reticles but nothing that stands out.

During the day i have shot it next to a S&B and couldnt tell the difference, im sure it would have been different in low light but i dont do much shooting then. A mate ran his 10-50 next to his 8-32 NF, set on 30x at 500y the sightron was clearer to the edge and have better colour. Its also hard to beat them on price, you get a lot for your money.

My favourite at the moment is my Weaver Grand Slam (Fixed 10x) that I have just put on my Tikka M55 .222rem.

There's just not as much to stuff around with when you run a fixed power scope!

Most of mine are wearing Sightrons mainly SI's because Im a cheap arse or have no money, I'm not sure which, probably a bit of both.
Value for money they have to be the best around, warranty might not be as good as some but still a lifetime warranty on materials. You can spend 3x the money and still not have any better optics.

I actually run their 3-9x32 rimfire scopes on most of my lever actions, more compact size suits them better and the shorter parallax is ideal on rifles that are primarily used at rimfire ranges.

On my .243 ai I've just swapped over to a SHV 5-25x56 illum ihr reticle which I think will be ok.

And I've got my NXS 5.5-25x56 MOART illuminated reticle to place on my .300 winmag when the rail and rings arrive.

Really enjoyed using the NXS on the .243 cause with the fine cross in the Centre and illum when you needed it was handy as. Think I'm going to regret putting it on the .300 but didn't have the extra $4-500 when I purchased them to get another.

The only problem I can envisage is that the cross on the SHV is a bit too thick for my liking.

Mate runs a Leica Magnus on his .22-250ai and it's an awesome piece of glass but was about $4300 I think when he bought it.

Got 2 Vortex d/backs, one 4-12 on the HMR and a 2-7 on the CZ 22. For the money they are hard to beat for all round performance.

On the 30.06 I had a 3-9 Zeiss Conquest that I indeed liked but got on to a bargain Zeiss Duralyt 4-12x50 that is all round better than the Conquest and is exceptional in low light conditions. My favourite in the field.

On my bench rest rifle I love my March 36-55x52 . Precise adjustments and a quality bit of precision kit.
