Torque limiters

Post by tripledeuce »

I have been using a Wheeler fat wrench for a few years, mainly for stock bolts and scope rings, I'm pretty happy with it but it's a little bulky to take shooting, I tend to leave it at home.

I stumbled accross some miniature torque limiters from fix-it sticks in America and decided to give them a go. There are a few sources, but I went direct as I wanted one of their kits and they were good enough to swap the limiters included in the kit for me. Postage was cheap at $10 and pretty quick.

I ordered the 49 in-lbs and 30 in-lbs limiters. Trying them against my fat wrench, which may or may not be still near calibration, shows they match within 5% or so.

All in all I'm pretty impressed. They are not the cheapest at $40 USD each, but they are a neat little solution. Having re-read this post I realise it sounds like an ad, I have no affiliation with them, but though it may be of use to some of you guys.

I was going to get these but they don't do the weight I want

a mate and I put my fat wrench against his warren & brown

and while a few in-lb lower in weight it was consistent so I

just allow 3 in-lb and have at it .
