Had lots of different hunting boots for our fox drives but the best for keeping your feet dry are Bogs made out of rubber and neoprene (think wetsuit) They do gumboots that I use spotlighting and do a good lace up boot that I use hunting during day.

Mark was wearing a pair of those tonight/ Are they tough enough for stalking?

No animals sighted tonight. we were the only two creatures stupid enough to be out in the rain

I had a nice pair of boots from Aussie Disposals some time ago. They did eventually fall to pieces but they lasted much longer than I expected.

The best feature was how far you could sink them into water (or mud) as long as it was below the top of the boot it was water proof. Water could come way up over the tongue and laces without a leak.

If there was a downside it would be the outer leather didn't get 'wet' per se but it did get cold when dunked. Soles didn't suffer from the heat sucking effect of cold ground/water.

I'll see if I they are still around and look up the brand name. They weren't overly expensive either (say sub-$120).

Tough enough to get through 2 seasons of fox drives walking through knee to waist high blackberry , black tussak and the like with the terriers. As long as water cant run in the top feet stay dry.

Just been looking for my old boots but Mrs Raven had chucked them. I believe they were Aussie Disposals "trail" brand. The outer looked a lot like an oil skin or old style Dri-rider material. Mrs Raven commented "they weren't cheap" so I'm guessing 130 plus at the least.

I hope that's camouflage and not what you walked through last time you wore them.

Mud from Saturdays Hamilton hunt and drying them out next to fire. Tried to cross a creek to cut a fox off that dogs were on about 8 metres across was only a bit below knees and because I had the top of boots tapped with plumbers tape and gaiters on and moving quick no water was getting until the last metre I took last step went up to my neck :( and was dog paddling. F@#k it was cold took my breath away  . Kids thought it was hilarious

Do not know anything about the recommended bogs but a good set of hiking boots need breaking in, you can not just wear them. Have heard scarpa terra or probably any of there gore tex boots are good.
Matang loves his bogs though so they may be just as good

Matang's look better for stalking than mine...
Pic of my Bogs below

I prefer the ridgeline Apache boots for stalking they are about $160 and have always kept my feet dry and have a better sole

That looks a lot like the ones I had.

Mark, you might remember my frequent trips out into the Gorse bush looking for the Gremlin. Those boots were good.
