Well, it would seem we are no longer able to import scopes from the states. What a wonderful sitution we are currently in regards to not being wroughted for firearms related gear. So much for saving money overseas. Damn Federal Government. Im curious as to how warranty returns etc work now though. Will try the optic zone and see how we go via them, will post my results.

Dear Sam,
We cannot ship rifle scopes outside of the USA,federal law, sorry.Would you like the rest of the order. Please let us know.
LS&B

Sucks to be me right about now.

The company you have ordered from is obviously taking a blanket approach to the situation as Australia has no controls under the Federal US law.

Normally the exporter is required to classify Rifle scopes for export ie: ECCN number etc. Some manufacturers have been fined and convicted for not getting the appropriate licence to export with correct categories.

If you like you can quote to them under the Commerce Control List - Category 0 - page 6 Heading 0A987

0A987 Optical sighting devices for firearms
(including shotguns controlled by 0A984); and
parts, n.e.s.
License Requirements
Reason for Control: FC, CC, UN
Control(s) Country Chart
FC applies to optical sights FC Column 1
for firearms, including
shotguns described in
ECCN 0A984, and related
parts
CC applies to entire entry CC Column 1
UN applies to entire entry Iraq, North Korea,
and Rwanda
!License Exceptions
LVS: N/A
GBS: N/A
CIV: N/A
!List of Items Controlled
Unit: $ value
Related Controls: N/A
Related Definitions: N/A
Items:
The list of items controlled is contained in the
ECCN heading.

Control reasons are
FC = Firearms Convention
CC = Crime Control
UN = Countries under embargo for various reasons

I can supply the appropriate Country classification chart as well but it is fairly lengthy :-)

I have had a great run with LS&B over the years - they have always been really helpful - a shame to see this happening with yet another US retailer, I must admit I am very surprised.

The Optic Zone is highly recommended by many (including me) - I have just received another scope from them only last week, a Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x50 - beautiful scope!! They seem to have no problems shipping to Australia, in fact the service is fantastic.

I got a reloading kit from Graf & Sons. They were helpful, quick, and a lot cheaper that what gets charged here.

The postage just hurt me a little bit.

I am going to try out the Optic Zone or Vortex soon. All reports about those two have been excellent.

thanks for the info Antony (Vortex AU). Its refreshing to see a company confident enough in themselves that they provide help to people in purchasing from a competitor.

BTW I finally picked up the 30-06 and have mounted the Viper, i will be sighting it in this weekend while checking the traps and should post some photos and info soon.

For those of you who havent dealt with Vortex AU I recomend you give them a go. Good product, good service and best of all honesty.

cheers mate

Thanks for the info anthony, seems like it is just to much effort atm. Not able to send me projies either which truelly sucks as id really rather not pay $45 per 100 vmax's.

Oh well placed an order with the optic zone, so time will tell if its possible or not. As for my next scope, that ones gonna be local ;)

As for which one exactly im not sure as the damn website is down for maintenance :P

I concur. It only took a week for a Leupold VX-III 3.5-10x40mm and rings/bases to arrive from the States. Massive savings too!

Sam -
Your order has been cancelled. Sorry, but we cannot ship bullets, brass, stocks or optics overseas. We can ship a lot of other things, but not these! Sorry!
Jean

Apparently they all fall into the category of " illegal ", and by that i mean, "too hard".
To a point i can understand, its alot of stuffing around for them without a huge amount of benefit. Just a bit dissapointed because ive had a pretty good run with LS&B up until now.

Would it be any consolation for you that Hornady 25gr V-Max projectiles are $35 a box from the Shooters Wholesale Warehouse in Canberra. I'm sure they could do you a deal with a bulk order.

Yeah mate i might give them a buzz i think, atm im paying $45 per hundred, and that stings when i "could" shoot close to that in a few days if i felt the urge.

Atleast, that is, until i get my big little gun....

damn things, 3 guns in the last 2 months and im already looking for my next one... and they just keep getting more expensive :(
