What about asking a Engel repairer?
Worst he can do is say GAGF. . . . .

Might help or not

My old man and his best mate are the sort of blokes that pull things apart to see how they work. Unlike many they also look for potential trouble spots, fix them and then put them back together. When his mate got a new Waeco not long after they were released they found a lot of the wiring used didn't have very durable insulation on it and was wired in such a way that with a fair amount of vibration (think corrugations) would wear through and short out.

They have fixed a couple of these now and reckon it's not to difficult. The hardest part is getting the plastic case apart without breaking the anti tamper clips
