Anyone got some 26mm rings?

Post by Branxhunter »

I picked up a Kahles Wien 3-9 scope over the weekend which hopefully will turn up tomorrow. Will post some pics when it does.

I am looking around to see if anyone has some 26mm rings collecting dust. Will probably mount on my Parker Hale .243, but could go on a number of rifles I have. I would be interested in turn-in rings like Leupold, Redfield etc, or Hilver stud rings, or even Ruger rings.

What ever you do, don't try and ream out a set of 25mm rings with a clutch cylinder hone, it wont work and just stuffs the hone. Lynx optics still make and stock them, do you want a contact link, Ill get it for you if you do ??

Cheers Camel. I had a look on the Lynx site but didn't see any. I have the number and might give them a ring.

I just had a look and cant find them either, I may have given you a bum steer there mate, but it wont hurt to ring him. He is a very good bloke to deal with and gives very prompt service. If you are still stuck, I can give the LGS in Griffith a ring, they had a shelf full of Lynx, Hilver and Tasco branded rings there when I was over there last. Pity I didn't have my old Brno back from the gunsmith in Dubbo, it has 26mm rings on it for the old Kahles scope on it, you could have had them. I dunno where the bloke gets his pricing from that is on Used Guns, from memory that is around twice the price for them.

Spoke to Malcolm from Lynx - he has a few sets of medium height rings at $140 per set plus postage.

 Wowsers, it must be the extra .6mm reaming that puts the price up there. My last set of rings that were medium 1 inch were only around 80 bucks. Would you like me to try Griffith, it may help.

That would be great.

I haven't been to Griffith since about 1997. I spent some time laser grading to set up new irrigation bays and drainage on a place on the southern side of the river near Carathool.

Turned up yesterday - very happy. Some minor marks on the tube but nothing I am concerned about. Lenses are in perfect condition.

No different to any other 3-9x scope - it is wound up to the stop at 9x in the photo, wind it back around through 8x etc to the stop at 3x. Can't go directly from 9x to 3x.
