Just downloaded a free app called bulletdrop. Anyone used it or others. Do you think they are accurate?

I suppose even if it is I need a wind meter taking readings from me to the target and a range finder!

Yeah but I forgot the point of downloading it. It's telling me trying different powders to get that extra 100fps the 257 wby should do gets me about an inch less drop at 400 yds .Hmmm so what methinks

iSnipe or Shooter are the two I use. I like them both for different reasons!

I use Ballistics: Advanced Edition on an ipod touch. Had it on my iphone before switching to a Samsung but haven't found anything quite like it.
Once you select your load from the factory loads or setup a custom load using the projectile list and set rifle scope setting (height above bore, zero distance, etc.) you save it in your favourites.
Then you can either have a drop chart or use the Heads Up Display.
The HUD is great. It has a scroll wheels for distance, wind speed and wind direction.
Also can use the internal angle meter and can adjust everything to suit different angles of shooting.

I have been looking at getting Shooter on my Samsung and getting a wind meter with bluetooth.
It then gets all the atmospheric data on the fly from the wind meter.
That has to be more accurate than my estimating temps, pressures and wind speeds.

Meanwhile, I punched in the data to Shooter, told it the distance my target was at, it told me to aim 4.8MOA high, I used the reticle on my scope and put it between the 4 and 6moa mark and hit 5 from 5 starting from my first shot at that target. Easy and it worked!

Haha I just was impressed with how easy it was to that, I had previously struggled to hit that target with my 223, I then hit 5x5 and it was easy.

I haven't used one myself, but when I was visiting Missed last year we went out to a rabbit spot, he gave me a crack out of his 6x47 Lap, spotted a rabbit, ranged it at 408m, twiddled the his knob (on the scope that is) and told me to hold in the middle, whack bam wollop, one dead bunny wabbit. longest shot I have ever take at a rabbit. They obviously work if you know how to work them.

Did you cry a little bit? That was $2 there!

No mate, I laughed a fair bit though as it was a nice fat preggers doe, one of his breeders. It would have been a $3 rabbit, they cost a bit more when I shoot them. I don't come cheap.

I use one called AV Ballistics. It's very comprehensive. It does everything-right down to the trigonometry, load data and atmospheric pressure.
