What Scope

For my 257Wby?

It will be a medium weight sporter with a 26 inch barrel for longer shots on varmints with 85gn NBTs.

Aussie Steve has a VX11 6-18 on his. It seems fine.

I want to be cheap, like $600 max and around that 6-18 power. I saw a 6-18 x 50 Meopta Meopro for $600 and thought that was a reasonable option.

I have had a Nightforce, I have a vx3, a Burris black diamond, a bushnell elite, a Vortex etc. I am not discerning enough to make it worth spending big on euro glass.

Thanks for your suggestions

Found a demo model for $650. $850 for new on TOZ. I wanted to cap it at $600 so $650 US is more in Ozzie and then there is postage. If I am happy enough with a Vortex on my JAB am I going to benefit from spending the extra on a Zeiss? Is it really worth the extra?

Is a Meopro no good?

I set all my high power scopes to 12 when I am spotlighting so that 14 max works but if your after the 300m rabbit its nice to find it on 12 and zoom up. 16x top on my 6/250 and this gun will be used in a similar fashion I reckon.

14 instead of 16. Would I notice in the field?? Probably not methinks. My loopy is the most sensitive scope when it comes to eye relief but it also one of the brightest and clearest.........

Anyone got a comment on that Meopro?

ok the one I had was F@#ked

Mushy turrets,Poor edge to edge clarity, very poor low light performance,When used spotlighting the image was very dark colour rendition was worse than a loopy VX1 and it was similar to looking through a fish bowl. There was three of us that used it and we all agreed for a spotlighting scope it was crap.

I was very dissapointed with it as I had looked at a couple of Meopta`s Adamjp had and even Uncle Nick rated it very highly.
I warned the chap I sold it to but he likes it as he does not spotlight and he is from Taswegia

G'day Trev.

I've got a vx3 6.5-20x40ao which might be of interest? Only thing is the reticle might be a bit busy! It's a "varmint hunter" reticle mate...

Cheers..

Also missed, that's interesting, I had a meopro 4-12x50 which I used as a spotlighter for a while, it was great, turrets were more than good enough, sure weren't target precise, but they were still good enough in my opinion! Who knows, maybe I got lucky, maybe you got unlucky?

I have a lupy 4.5x14x50 That I would do at a good price, fine duplex.
If you want more magnification go the Zeiss or Sightron. Both a worth the extra.
cheers
