Hi guys,

Just wondering if an old plate of a bbq would suffice as a target for shooting at say 4-600m?

Cheers

I think cast iron plates would crack or shatter. Mild steel ones would bend or punch. In short, not ideal but go for it!

I think also that cast steel is no good and the bullets will just punch right through. The scrap bin at the metal recycle yard is a good place to shop. Get some scrap mild steel about 15mm thick. It will do the job and last a long time.
They should only charge you a few dollars.

If you want some harder steel AR 500 is ideal but expensive. It can take a full hit from a .338 300 grain bullet with ease as can be seen by the photo.

Great fun shooting steel!
