Martini Cadet takedown - lazer cutting receiver

I'm toying with the idea of having one of my Cadets converted into a takedown action.

To do this a thin cut would have to be made through the bottom of the receiver ring

Anyone know anything about lazer cutting? I've been told that very precise, neat, thin cuts can be made, but know nothing about the process.

Anyone know where this could be done?

I think you might need to look at wire cutting rather than laser. Most laser setups are 2d, designed for sheet.

but i think it wont work, because you will need to install
a new extractor for every different cartridge you chamber....... just about

who does it ?... no idea outside the states.

not quite right unless they purchased a machine.
i dont watch the show often [not on free tv up here] but they sub'd the work to another mob.
there are a couple of others in the states who do that sort of work.
i dont think it would be cheap though....

Spinna, why cut it?

Just do like Tony did with the pics he posted on AHN with the large frame, just make up a positive locking mechanism.

Will let you know how i go, am about to start on a project with a cadet myself.

I saw that "work of art" takedown that AFRO did on AHN, and a great thing, however I personally consider Martinis to be a "low value" action and not worth spending a lot of money on.
A cut through the bottom of the receiver ring and a new pin with a knurled round nut to clamp the the barrel in shouldnt cost more than $100, imo and work ok with low pressure cartridges

Why not look around a little, as Sportco converted heaps of Francotte's that were originally a take down rifle. Half the job done then.
