I have an unfilled Protector sandbag, and was wondering what the best type of sand was to use to fill it. I would appreciate advice from those in the know.
If it makes any difference here is the bag I have:

thanks in advance, Jason.

Zircon is the best stuff, high weight for density.
BUT.... I couldnt find any, they use it in foundries in the furnaces... I rang a local foundry and the nice girl said yep, sure thing come and get it.... but you'll have to deal with getting it out of the furnace whilst on.... she had a sense of humour.
Next best stuff is the purple/pink garnet used in sandblasting. This is all I use, and it works well!
Cheers

I work at a mineral sands mine so I have Zircon coming out my arse...well not really but you know. Actually the waste product we throw back into the pit, Ilminite would be the go. Higher SG than Zircon and cheap as hell if you get get onto it. I could get some if I ever ge out of the control room!

This talk of mineral sands brings back memories…… early 70’s working on Stradbroke Island, good times.
