Re: Ultrafire WF-008 "recoil LED" torch
Righto, I took it for a walk for a couple of hours last night. Not a lot of bunnies around TBH. Saw a fox early in but as soon as they light hit him, he turned and bolted. I've seen this guy in the same place before and he did the same last time. Shortly after than I saw what I reckon was a cat, it did the bolt too. The reason for his presence was obvious, for there was a bunny sitting about ten feet from where he'd been prowling - so it became the first victim of the Ultrafire.
Now, the beam is a lot tighter than a regular reflector style torch - so you need to sweep the rifle around a lot more to cover the ground. Here is a shot of the beam shining on the side of a hill about 100m away. You can still sort of make out the square shape, and the spot is around 8m wide.
A couple of early victims shot in the granite country.
Bad moon rising!
Lit this poor little bugger up - he won't see for a week. The flowering gums were out and the smell of honey was all around them.
I had the torch running for two hours, only turned it off a few times when I shot a bunny and reverted to the head light to gut them. The light doesn't get hot, hardly even warm and I could not notice any dimming of the beam over that period. I'd been playing with it for about 30mins since I got it, and it was still on the same battery, so I know it's good for at least 2.5 hours with a full charge.
Overall, I think it's a good torch if you were wanting a little more reach than a reflector style, or for hunting in open country. The lack of spill means you don't see objects right in front of you was well - if I'd hunted my other spot in the thick granite I'd have been tripping up a bit I reckon. It would also be a great torch for shooting from the ute. Perhaps a little tight for close range work such as with an air rifle or .22 - you really need to sweep it around a lot more than a floodier torch to spot game at closer ranges.

Looks bloody good for what I want.... use the big light to fid them and switch over to the gunlight for the shooting. I would not be doing too much on foot so I want a long reaching light suitable for the .223.

Realistically, I'd say about 130m or so. That way you can still clearly identify your target. It will bounce light off fox eyes a bloody long way off - so if you want to use the eyes as an aiming point then you could shoot from a long way.

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.20392
Charger:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.13820 (this has a US plug - needs an adaptor or to have the plug changed.)
If your Wolf Eyes runs on Li ion 18650 batteries then the charger for it should work.

Re: Ultrafire WF-008 "recoil LED" torch
would you mind measuring the length and diameter of the battery?
i think that the wolfeyes LRB-168A battery might be the same.

Left it on for another hour last night, to see how long it would hold out - still going strong.

I bought a few of those scope mounts after you told us about that site and now I curse you everytime I go on it. Thinking of trying a $23 buck scope on the 22 that was nearly junked now!
