I won't be shooting the hw97k at 300 yards But would be interested to see the AEON next to other scopes at some long range targets to compare quality. Certainly brings the Mynahs up nice and bright on 32x

Re: which clicky windy scope
G'day All,
I've has a NF 8-32BR great scope, I should of kept it, sold it to buy the 12-42BR for fly shooting, again a great scope.
Now I've only shot fly 3 times, but got a podium twice without someone spotting for me.
For hunting, F class and occasional fly shooting, I'd go the 8-32, if I was doing more fly I'd get the 12-42. if it was for hunting as well the 12x is a bit too much for ME. However for small calibres at 500m less than 6mm 12x could be the deal breaker/maker for seeing bullet holes at 500m.
What ever you do, you should get 1/8th (much finer adjustment for 500m and beyond) click MOA turrets AND and MOA reticle. It is NOT wise IMHO to have mil dot reticle and MOA turrets or vice versa. The ONLY advantage of mil dot with MOA turrets is for use as holding off marks.
Another curve ball, a 56mm objective is another PITA for hunting as the scope is so much higher and getting a good cheek weld is a LOT harder, 50mm max for hunting would be MY limit.
Flip side is having 2 scopes zeroed for dual purposes but that is also a PITA.
Not all will agree but hopefully this makes some sense.
Hope this helps.
Cheerio Ned
