Made the trip to Supercheap today - picked up surprisingly small bucket with 10kgs of sandblasting media. I also used it as an excuse to buy a sandblaster for my workshop. The rear bag is filled and ready to go to the range. Thanks again for the advice, particularly AI and TrevorT.

I was going to recommend brickys sand for slow moving calibres and quick sand for varmint rigs.

I just picked up a set of small plastic funnels from the supermarket, the medium sized one worked perfectly.

I have been on leave and away from work, and I see you have it sorted. To be honest I wouldn't mind sending you or anyone else some small quantities of Zircon or Ilmenite but the shipping is going to be $$. I would also say that I don't use it, just the stuff from the young boys sand pit and it's heavy enough IMO.

Perhaps I could have a market here. Hmm... Tactical Sand, it's black and heavy and will make you a better shooter ! (On the down side it's slightly radioactive ) First come first mutated..

hehe yeah the radioactive bit would make them think twice! In reality though you get more by watching tv. I like that though.....tactical sand!

Get as much in there as possible, then get something and ram it in the bag you'll be amazed how much more you can get in there. I also find it settles over time with no real visible leak.

this is probably a dumb question but is the fact that sandblasting media is abrasive have an adverse impact on bag life or is it nothing to be worried about?

All sand is abrasive so i cant see it causing to much of an issue.
Might wear slightly faster then with river sand but i cant see it causing to much drama

my in-laws are here so might set them the challenge of filling it for me

taping a maccas straw to your funnel might help aswell. the longer drop seems to help it pack down a bit easier.

I second that. The only problem though was negotiating the minefield of women on the beach wading and sun baking. Although one would think that a trip to the beach these days would involve women in bikinis not dressed like NINJAS.
