MAB .224, 8"twist

could anyone give me an idea what a stainless one of these would be worth. a bloke i know has one which i'm led to believe hasn't be fitted or fired for that matter. he's had it for some years apparently. he's offering it to me for $225 with some arm twisting.

I just got a quote for around $485 plus P&H for a stainless barrel from TSE last week. If a 'couple of years old', I'd want to be 100% sure its not from the era where some let go.

It was a wrongly identified batch of stainless steel from the overseas supplier that was at fault - not anything done by MAB. You can read up on the facts via the NRAA websites. As long as you can determine 100% that it's not from that batch, you can use it with confidence. If you can't be sure, then forget it...

If its a new barrel, it should have a 'certificate' with it that gives you a batch number ... if that's been lost, may be no way to trace its vintage. Call TSE and ask them.
