Cheap way is to get a pool noodle cut it to length and cut a slit in to slide over the window and put it on your window then you have a full adjustable height on the fly.

Iused a big iron and I've used Knackers home made job bolted on the farm ute. Both far and away better shooting platforms then the door frame or wing mirror.

The noodle works a charm too have used that should have seen the looks on the misses face when I asked her to pick one up and when the purple noodle went in on the last trip the looks from the old man and bro were pricelesskjd wrote:Cheap way is to get a pool noodle cut it to length and cut a slit in to slide over the window and put it on your window then you have a full adjustable height on the fly.

My vote goes for the Big Iron shooting rest, easy to use, put on and take off in seconds and all adjustable.

Looks good mate but can't use the window if it rains or long drives between spots. I will probably still get one. Gonna try that pool noodle though! Not perfect but really worth a go! Also good for taking in mate's utes.

Just tried in and works a treat! While not ideal, it is a bloody lot better than just the door. I will be buying a couple and show my mates!

Plowboy
In my ute I can still wind the window up and down it doesn't impede the window at all

Bit hard to find one of these shooting rails. Every shop I have tried has none and have been trying to get them for months. Anybody know of a shop that actually has one?

It amazing eh? Just when you thought you would have to build a shooting rest, you find a bloke who has them. Everybody else was saying that they were impossible to get and this bloke has 3 of them sitting in stock! Oh well no need to build now! Thanks anyway guys!

Re: Shooting rail for the spotlighting rig.
well here is my one that dad whiped up.
pretty basic but does the job well.
sit very soild on thing is it aint adjustable. we just cut them for our personal requirments. got one for me and one for dad. you can still wind the windows up and down without the rest touching.
here are some pics:

enjoy
cheers
