Scope level device

Another stick on the fire (so to speak) is that if you have a scope that has a flat base on the bottom of the turret housing and you have a flat scope rail (ie - weaver / picatinny / cz / etc)

Put a set of feeler gauges in between the scope and the rifle to fill in the gap, enough so that the scope contacts the gauges and the rail, but not enough to cause the scope to rise up out of the rings. Tighten down the tops after this to required torque (or the she'll be right tightness)

With this method, you level the scope to the scope rail of the rifle via the feeler gauges and then all you need to do is tighten down the rings and then get it onto paper.

The USO bubble level listed above is more used to detect cant in the rifle when shooting at distance.

I have a scope mounted level but I think a rail mount would be easier to see while shooting. This is quite a hard item to find, Procal has a Bsquare rail mount level but it doesn't fold away and would be a pain getting caught on things.

I forgot to mention that the reason for setting the rifle level before fixing the scope is that you may find that the barrel and action do not sit square in the bedding compound.

I have one of the US Optics levels on my Savage F Class rifle mate - was going to post a pic of a nice stock scratch right next to the folding level but camera batteries are flat. The advantage of the folding type would then be obvious, well worth the few extra bucks.

Not sure if US Optics will ship overseas, but they do sell via their website.
