Scope level device

Get two, one for the Action and one for the top of the Scope.

Is that how you guys get your scope sitting square in the mounts.

Ever tried looking through the scope at the reticle, then concentrating on the up down line and slowly move your eye away from the eyepiece, as you move away you can see the line and line it up with the centre of the bolt.

where do you place the bubble tube on the top of scope? can you supply a picture?

i know for fitting a scope you simply place one on any flat on the rifle, and the other on the top of elevation turret or cap, but i dont understand where you would glue one on, that wouldnt require a shift in position/focus between it and the sight picture.

for a simple anti cant you can use a 2" (approx) section of 8mm Aluminium angle secured with a drop or two of glue to the rear edge of rear scope ring and top surface of base.

or how about if you can set the rifle up level you can drop a plumb bob in front of the rifle and look through the scope and allight the vertical cross hairs with the plumb bob string.

Now that we've hijacked the thread I think poobah would like it so he can make sure he isn't canting when shooting ?

and Ideal for setting up the rifle, to get the rifle level put a level bubble (like in jocks pic) on the scope mount or on a horizontal surface on the action either internally or externally (if one is available)

Placing a bubble on top of the turrets will not work as many scopes (including the T36's have slight error between the turret and cross hairs).

We set the rifle in the rest and rear bag and then use the plastic holder from a packet of .22 ammunition, you then set this piece on the forend of the stock (it sits over the barrel but does not make contact) and then place a level on this to set the rifle.

Once the scope has been fixed either find something that is level or plumb such as a fence or post and then align your cross hairs.

Then....adjust you rifle scope ten clicks up or down and then left and right to check for error, you may find that whilst adjusting up, down left or right that cross hairs drift ever so slightly and when at the range attempting to adjust to the point of impact just doesn't work.

For what they are worth, a columator is probably a good investment.
