Qtn - Rifle Scope adjustment (parallax)
Folks, I have a Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15 x40 with parallax adjustment at the objective lens. I understand what this does. There is also an eye piece focus. When adjusting to different magnifications the scope can become out of focus. Should the eye piece focus be adjusted, or the parallax or both and in what order? The parallax values that are printed on the scope are not actually correct for the range stated, for example at 100m range it neeeds to be adjusted to around the 250-300m value on the scope. When I'm in the field or spotlighting I need to either keep the magnification constant, or find a way to quickly adjust the scope withouth having to fiddle with focus and aprallax (if possibe) because it takes too long. Anyone shed light on this, pardon the pun ? Cheers, Jeff

G'Day macjeffrey, a mate of mine has one of these i have seen it and used it but never had to touch the eye piece, the parallax yes, but never the eye piece as for the parallax values i think there done in yards mate coz i found it to be just past the 100 to be right at 100m don't know why you need to go to 250-300 but im sure someone here can healp

Re: Qtn - Rifle Scope adjustment (parallax)
Don't have a Bushnell but the same sort of setup on my R9 air rifle and find the focus once set should/can be left alone and it should just need the parallax adjusted. Its normal for the parallax to be out but by that amount is a lot out. As ATN noted check if its yards or Meters, mine is in yards, Shooting 10 meters its set right between 10 and 15 yards on the AO.
To be honest if I bought another AO scope for hunting it would have to be side adjusted as I have found that mucing around with the objective lens a pain in the arse while hunting but great when shooting targets at ranges as you have that little more time.

On my scopes the eyepiece focus's the reticule and is a once only adjustment and the AO focus's the image. I would have thought all makes were the same...?
Re: Qtn - Rifle Scope adjustment (parallax)
The reticle adjustment does one thing on every scope, it adjusts the inner reticle lens and compensates for the irregularities in the individuals eyes. It does exactly the same the as a pair of glasses, it has nothing to do with any object you may see out the end of the scope.
How you adjust the eyepiece is really easy, pick a clean wall inside your house with nothing on it. Look through your scope and concentrate your eyes on the reticle, do not look at the wall, you then turn the eyepiece in until the reticle becomes blurry, stop and then unscrew the eyepiece until the reticle becomes sharp and crystal clear. It is in its optimum position if its screwed IN as much as it can be for your eyes. I dont mean screwed in all the way, just screwed in to the point where if you screw the eyepiece in a little further the reticle will become blurry. As opposed to the opposite that it becomes blurry with a little bit more screwing out.
So if its sharp at say, anywhere between 5 and 6 screws out, keep in as much as you can which would be 5 screws out.
You can do this outside at the range etc, but I have found when people do it that way they start looking at the target or a hill etc instead of the reticle.
Hope that helps, esy way to remember is the eyepiece is a set of reading glasses but adjustable to screw in or out to suit different peoples eyes, BUT ONLY FOR RETICLE SHARPNESS.
