Fyrlyte Hellfire Spotlight

Post by tnb »

Wondering if anyone has some real world experience using this light.
The application I'm interested in is long range fox shooting.

I’m led to believe the globes don’t last very long.

I have owned one up until a couple of weeks ago
Done heaps of spotlighting with it , fantastic light
Globes last long enough 25-50 hrs I reckon , to the point of you forget about the globe because the light is so good however no where near as long as a standard 100 watt globe
However power beam has just bought out the same design and I've seen one of those and would rate it better as far as distance goes but not as broad
Overall the fire light is a better light I think
Reliability wise they take a fair beating and I never had a problem in the year and a half I owned it
Paul from firelyte is fantastic to deal with too

Power beam $595
Hellfire $1000

Thanks for the replies. misit your feedback was the type of thing I was after.
I currently run a Longreach 11inch HID these are a custom spotlight made in Dalby Queensland
Almost a Nighteater clone this is an excellent light and something would need to be very good to best it.
Its just a good package performance, reliability and build quality.
But there always might be a better mouse trap. That's why my inquiry.
My rifles of choice are a 220 Ackley Swift and 6mm Rem Ackley.
That's why my interest in the performance lights.

I’ve tried the hid lights and I think there are 2 advantages to the halogen Hellfire ( my findings only )

Foxes sit better with the halogen
And I think it picks things up easier than the hid
An 11 inch hid throws a long beam from what I’ve seen but no where near as forgiving or easy on the eye

Hey tnb, I reckon I wouldn't be the only one interested to read some more and see some photos of your Longreach light, but particularly of your two Acklies.

Thanks again for your feedback.
Exactly the type of experience with the Hellfyre I am after. I think we share some very common interest
in our Varminting.I would like to take this discussion further offline if possible.
I fully understand if you are unwilling with privacy concerns etc.
I need to be careful myself because of the job that I am in.
My employment precludes me from being too open on what is a public forum.
Thanks again Tom

Well I took the plunge and bought myself a Christmas present (for being soo good throughout the year).
The Hellfyre turned up a week ago and had it set up by the next day. (If you are thinking about costs, it cost another $100 to buy all the heavy duty electrical goods to connect it up)
Well it is awesome.... not just in the distance and beam size but animals do sit better.
I have found with the HID that the weird light they throw can play tricks on your eye's and make it hard to focus. Also very hard to see through trees and scrub due to refraction.
With the Hellfyre no issues. Eye focus good, can see right through trees and scrub (which is amazing) and no tricks on the eyes identifying targets. Also animals eye reflections are the colour they are supposed to be where with HID they are all over the place.
Well worth it.
