I was window shopping for scopes earlier and this caught my eye:
http://theopticzone.com/product/nikon-m ... tte-16361/
Some of the features appealed to me, the magnification range, weight and price mainly, I have looked through some monarchs before (not this model) and the glass seems ok. But I spotted that it only has 30MOA of adjustment which seems very small. Assuming I could use some combination of rails/mounts to get it zeroed in the centre of its range, I need around 11 MOA to get my 6.5 swede onto the 500m rams at the silhouette club. This doesn't leave much room before the turrets will bottom out. I guess this is the downside of high mag range scopes in a 1" tube?

Re: 30MOA for max scope adjustment
Mines a different spec being a Monarch 3 6-24x50SF etc. Very happy with it although I haven't measured to see how much adjustment it has (think it would be similar). 30MOA adjustment would probably need a suitable rail to get the best out of it.
Check out the SKU numbers, Nikon sometimes sells the scope in different 'packages'. If you're spending that much expect three sets of different height turrets/caps, flip caps, sunshade, lens cloth etc.
Try DC Cameras if you're looking at Nikon or Zeiss locally, their prices aren't bad and I scored my scope on a sale.

you are going to need a rail, you dont want to be operating too close to eaither end of the adjustment range as you can loose clarity. also you dont always get full wind when your right at the top or bottom on some scopes.

If you can live with new rings the AEON's that Matt and Geoff sell are very good for the price. My 8-32x50 on my hw97 air rifle gets wound up and down all day while shooting field target.
