Bases and Rings for Tikka
I've always used Leupold bases and rings and while they work great, I'm getting tired of the surface rust that keeps appearing. I keep them oiled when I can but it only seems to take an overnight hunting trip to start appearing. It rubs off with an oily rag when I get to it but it's still annoying.
With a new Tikka coming I'm wondering what options I have for decent bases and rings that won't cost an arm and a leg? (that rules out optilock). Not real keen on the ones that come with the Tikka's either. It's a T3 lite so no rails etc.
Any help is appreciated.

Plenty of choices.
Weaver base and Russian QDs on a 35Whelen pictured below. Also used Talley, standard Tikka (yuck!) and others I've forgotten.
Cheers...

I've heard good things about the DNZ so I'll have to check them out!
Con, were the Talleys the lightweight version by any chance?

Haven't touched them since I mounted the loopy F3 on it years ago. Haven't needed to......
...so I'm a fan.

Re: Bases and Rings for Tikka
I have dnz on my two tikkas (+ one remington).
I may know of some optilocks that could be on the market soon. A mate bought them for his sako 338wm. Last night when i had a look at them i noticed the parallel dovetails on the bases.
He wasn't happy with his ebay 'score'.

Nothing wrong with showing a little restraint.........The Raven wrote:Subtle how no-one has commented on the Macca's sticker.

Re: Bases and Rings for Tikka
I've got a set of 30mm optilock rings and bases that I'm about to sell if you are interested, as I have just sold my Tikka's, and am not intending to get another any time soon.
I have used warne rings too which clamp straight to the Tikka's rail, bit pricey but no issues with rust.

Re: Bases and Rings for Tikka
I use burris signature zee rings and burris tactical bases on both my tikkas. They have the plastic inserts which self centre the scope and lessen ring marks. In my experience if scope is mechanically zeroed little adjustment is required when sighting in. One downfall though they only come in med and high.
