Knife brands

Post by old24 »

Sorry hit wrong button
Yeah his boss sent him home with knives that included f dick and victorinox he prefers the grip if f.dick and that's his preference. The only way I'll find a knife that I like the grip of, is to visit the shops then compare prices on line. I find a good grip helps when the edge is getting dull and have had enough of cutting.

You blokes that are using the havalon's, how do you find them? I can see the benefits and disadvantages of the system, just wondering how you find it in the field?

Grimo, excuse if it doesn't make sense as I have the beer goggles on.

I love mine, it's sharp (still on the original blade after 4 weeks of cutting rice every day and a few rabbits) it's nice and light, blades are cheap enough when you actually need to replace them, although mine came with an extra 10. Overall, I can't really fault it, I'm happy with it and would buy another without a doubt.

Absolutely great just don't put any sideways pressure on the blade or the blades will snap. Use them as a knife for slicing not as a pinch bar or screw driver and they work a treat :)

Ok.
So I buy the bigger handle model.Done.
Blades now.
Blunt blade for skinning ,longer skinny blade for boning.
Is there a ratio that you use.? Say one skinner to two boners blades..?
Cheers Big G.

Yes G, just get the bigger handle model and maybe you could duct tap a bit of wood to it (or a Remington barrel) for a bit of extra leverage then you'd be ready for anything :)

I just checked the website, I didn't realize there was that many different blade options  Pretty sure I just use the 60XT blade in mine.

Cheers,
Waldo
