Remington M700 After Market Stocks

G'day Guys & Girls,

I am after some suggestions for one of my rifles. I wish to swap the timber stock for a harder wearing synthetic one. Prefer just a straight drop in with no gun smithing required. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks jacksaligari. Sorry if my OP wasn't very clear. I was more after brand names or model suggestions that would work for my particular application, not where to buy them from. I will take a look though!

Check out bell and carlson mate. Good value stocks with an alloy bedding block. There are a heap of options out there for the 700.

Really depends on ur budget. McMillan are supposed to be awesome if u can afford them. I've never owned one though.

Hs precision are good but a little over priced in my opinion. If you like the bell and carlson check out red hawk rifles in the states. If you email him he'll work something out in regards to shipping here in oz for you plus it works out about 100 bux cheaper than buying here.

what sorta stock are you after.

I have had a McMillan and have 2 HS thumbholes. A lot of the choice wil be dependent on the style of stock you want

Sporter style Trevor. Its a walk around the hills kind of rifle

Not just style, but what use for the rifle?

Hunting style stock limits you for LR varmiting. AICS heavy and poorly proportioned for hunting use.

In short there are three US manufacturers worth looking at.
McMillan
Manners
HS Precision

MPI and Bell & Carlson make decent stocks, but at a lower quality than those three.

G'day Adam. Its for a 7mm rem mag project of mine. It's for walking/stalking mainly not LR Varminting. I should have clarified this in the OP.

B&C is what I am leaning towards at the moment. Those SG Gunstocks look the bees knees though!

For a long action R700 hunting rifle, I am a big fan of the McMillan KS pattern, purchased through the outfitters shop on 24hourcampfire.com. Wait is about 8 months though.

and all you have to do is sand out the pressure point in the forend

i know you said you wanted a drop in fit but this is not hard to do.

if you get one of these don't order the mountain rifle one the barrel channel is to small.

That B&C stock is over 38oz in weight.

You will excuse me for thinking that is not very light at all.
