What are the benefits of lubing pellets and what is the downside.??
What would you use to lube pellets and how much or technique used.??

I bought a pellet sizer... and I am yet to make it perform
but then again I have no technique!!!! LOL
or it could be that the scope might not track properly...
testing is making good use of the hand pump

It once seemed all the go , especially for pcps. I haven't seen it talked about on the Yellow forum in a long time.
I played around with it using a bike chain liquid wax, but didn't see much happening. It's main purposes was less cleaning of the barrel and a slight rise in fps .

A mate of mine fell for the liberal use of lube on his pellets. He ended up badly Dieselling a nice Diana to death.
Don,t think I would worry about it with a PCP either,from what I have been told Pellet Lube oil in the works is a No No too. Big BANGS!

I think there is enough lube in the lead.

Harry was using a lube for awhile, Krytox I think. I haven't seen any thing on lubing pellets in any of his posts for a while. I am assuming he doesn't lub any longer.

That's right David. I have not used the lube in a long time. It is still in my box though and may get a go again some time ( Krytech bike chain wax ).
As you wrote earlier the main purpose is to keep the barrel clean a bit longer. It did do that, but I clean my barrels with a pull-through more regularly now and to good effect I feel. On the JB OZ 1 when shooting it at the higher velocities 900 to 1030, I clean at least every 100 shots with a pull through VERY LIGHTLY oiled with OK Laugh ... 3 in 1 oil which is quite pure. Just a couple of pulls gets rid of the black stuff, then a couple with dry rag. Finest accuracy is back in 3 to 4 shots.

NH, I never saw any actual accuracy advantage other than that accuracy hung on a little bit longer as the barrel stayed clean for longer ...... Edit: No down sides excepting the time to lube ... a couple of drops in a small sandwich bag, squish the bag to spread the drops, put in 50 or so pellets, slosh them about and put them out to dry. The less you use the better.............

I've put a few thousand pellets through my R1 and it still seems to be getting better.

My Rapier hasn't seen a QC pellet in 6 months atleast

When it stops getting better and starts to get worse, give the barrel a clean. Perhaps as a suggestion, give it a clean anyway then a few shots to re-condition it before passing judgment.

Hi Makrand,
Q/C's are all you need,just one with a real pellet behind it.
Airguns are 'airarms' not 'firearms' so they don't have all the fouling problems to contend with.
I have never subscribed to Pellet Lubing Theory and have seen it only as a major potential problem waiting to happen.
Want some JSB's?I'm getting very low.

I shot a QC with MP5 through and you are right Harry.
It definitely shoots better now (.33" @ 25yds)

Very happy with the R1 still Lewis.
The Maccari tune is holding up well.
