Starlings and bunnies with a FWB 300 S 10 metre rifle

After the silhouette knock down experiment ( see below post ) I did a little starling experiment and some bunny culling and I think have possibly tapped the limit range for the latter for the FWB 300 S .177..
The precision / accuracy is incredible in stable ideal range conditions using the Exact 8.4 gr pellets. One must ultimately understand there is a limit to down range momentum and KE.
Two starlings for two shots at 60 and 61 yards 4.4 fpe at POI:
Exit wound:
# 2 starling:
Close-up:
Both folded instantly. The rifle was bench rested from my table in the end of the packing shed and was shooting 8.4 gr Exacts at MV 655 fps at 3,680 ft above sea level. BC looks like 0.025 at that height and that converts to 0.022 fpe at sea level for this particular rifle.. The tree the starlings are not allowed to sit in and from which they do the gravity drop, has the knot holes for the parrots to nest in and I guard it zealously!!
Three bunnies fell to head shots at 38, 40 and 49 yards laser ranged ... The last shot had a POI KE of 4.9 fpe at POI velocity of 513 fps according to Chairgun. That is pretty much the generally recognized lower limit for head shots on rabbits and for once I tend to agree with conventional wisdom..... So a pleasing five single shot kills for the 300 S this trip.
So, the 300 S FWB is more than a pretty face and more than a 10 metre airgun; at least in stable air and using 8.4 gr JSB Exacts.
I have some targets to 100 yards and other stuff to report on pellet stability to challenge some other myths and legends, but that can wait ........ Hope everyone from Melbourne to Mackay is well and the North Coast mob are still treading water ........
Kind regards, Harry.
