Big Boy Predator pellets at 50 yards

Had a session in windy conditions.
5 shot groups. The 26.2 gr Big Boys did rather well I thought. They shot at 31 fpe 730 fps from the less powerful BSA Hornet compared to 27.3 fpe 880 fps for the regular 15.9 gr Exacts from the same rifle. The H&N Barracuda Match / Kodiaks at 21Gr did 28.4 fpe at 780 fps.

That looks like pretty good 50 yard hunting accuracy and a lot of momentum for deep penetration ( foxes over a whistle at 35 yards? ) . Notice the Big Boys seem to have arrived at POI nicely point on without any real indication of yaw.

Take no notice of elevation relative to the aiming mark as I was using the posts in the scope and holding off for the wind that beat me for a few shots. The group with the regular Exacts just went through in a lull hence the quality there........ ..........Kind regards, Yrrah

These are full lead cone pointed pellets FR. But yes you can see where the points hit so I know they were not gyrating or yawing much at that range. In wind you always expect the tip to point a little into the wind with any bullet so a ad off centre is normal so long as they basically point the same. Of course if the wind strength or direction changes that changes the pellet/ bullet orientation also. ...... Sorry, no poly tips on the 26.2 gr Big Boy Predators . Kind regards, Harry.

Edit: The pointed Big Boys with a 25 m best target shot recently:

That was an encouraging test for the Big Boys Harry, I was very interested to see how the big pointed pellets would perform in an under 30 Ftp Gun at a reasonable hunting range.
I will at last get my new Theoben TTR1 .22 later this week, so it will be an enjoyable test for the gun with both the JSB 18.1 Heavies and the Big Boys to play with.
cheers Ray.

There goes a another wun! :hunting:

I'll look forward to your report as to how the Theoben likes both. There are possibly more Rapids around than any other type so go for it........ Kind regards, Harry.
