FWB 300 S ... First targets ... Looks like a shooter

Post by Yrrah »

JSB Exacts round nose 8.6 gr on my scale. Two targets at 28 yd / 25 m ( black ) and 25 yards ( red ).

This lefty 300 S was made in 1975. Looks like it's a good shooter. I have some experiments for it that have been waiting for an accurate low powered .177 spring rifle shooting 600 to 650 fps.....

Thanks Lewis... Kind regards, Yrrah.

Gratz on the nice gun Harry. I started to sight my new SS .22 in at about 35 yards, but it's too cold outside and my trigger finger wouldn't function right so now I'm in here posting.

Out of interest, what's the scope? Looks like a Leupold of some sort.

Correct... it is a Leupold 3-9 EFR Vari-X11 rimfire AO scope. Nice, small, light, clear scope that focuses down to less than 10 m. ... Just the ticket for what is a fairly hefty weight air rifle. There are other scopes of course that would do the job but I happened to have this one on my centrefire 1949 Brno Hornet so popped it off and on ........ Kind regards, Harry.

Good stuff. I'm betting that with the weight of the gun and the Maccari kit it barely moves on firing. :D

They are the standard weight Exacts .177.

OK a replay just for you.... They fell out of the 60 yard tree. Not the FWB of course but the big heavy 28.5 gr Korean Eunjins doing 826 fpe at 43 fpe ME on that day out of the JB OZ 1 BSA Hornet.. ..Were they unlucky? Must not mess in my parrot knot holes :

Because our farm is 3,680 ft above sea level and springers lose about 11% power at that altitude, the 300 S may not see service there.

Starlings are bad news for tree hole nesting natives .......... Kind regards, Harry.
