I got a chance today to put the Theoben rapid through its paces and it did not disapoint.
Some pics of the said rifle and a few groups also a BR30 target I shot ,It goes 1800 plus so should be silver, not bad for first serious day at the range with a new gun.







These were x5 shot groups.

What pellets you using??
What tank did you end up getting?

are you considering a spare cyclinder/mag for it??

The cylinder is fixed in my Excaliber but i did get a few spare magazines for it. I use a full air fill and fill the magazines- once I have shot off the magazines it's time for an airfill again. 4x8 shots is quite a lot of hunting with an AG.

I did have 4 shots at a target at 100mtrs and the holdover was about 3 feet so I did not continue as it would have meant I had to adjust scope or put a bbigger target stop out and I was just concentrating on 25mtrs.
I have it shot in using JSB Exact (jumbo 15.9grns).
I did try Kodiack as well but the JSB shot a tiny bit better.
I went to brissy and my tank had not been certified yet so they lent me a 240 bar tank, I think its about 6-7 litres.??
I have put around 200 shots through this gun and the tank is down to 200bar, I am not real impressed witht the refill capacity off this tank and the one they have for me will be worse as it is only 227bar.
I am thinking a 300 bar tank in the 10 litre range would be better.
I have another tank coming from lewis and single shot adapter and 12 shot mag also.
Very happy with it though.!!!
Headin out again this arvo to cull the crow population again.

I received a bit of critism today about one of my targets and it happens to be the second target top middle group, It appears that I have put a piece of paper behind and tried to hide a few shots but I assure you thats not the case, It is a bit of loose paper that fell from another target and I did not pick it up on the digital.
You can see yellow behind all the others and If you check out all the other groups you will see that it does not throw shots that far.
I think it was just a bit of Jealously.
I am always keen for a shoot off with the boys who thought I rigged the pics.

That is fantastic shooting, my only air rifle was an old Gecado .177 and it was crap,

I have been in a few situations where i could find a use for a rifle like that.

Although it will be hard to find a field AR that will shoot better than this in my hands, I'm not interested in target low powered AR.

Thats what i was thinking Pat, im getting a Lightforce walk around kit and going to hit it on foot, my $30 brand new Norinco .22 will do till i can afford one of these.

Just in from the range. Shot Damien's new A/R. Sheer magic, ultra accurate only two problems with it.

Any updates on the Rapid mate- have you had any further outings with it??

How do you find having to re-fill the bottle?? are there any tricks to watch out for??
Did you invest in a spare bottle?
How many full power shots (approx) do you get with Exacts or other heavy hunting slugs before a refill is needed?

Have you tried it at longer ranges yet??

Have you managed to find a full 232 bar cyclinder or ???

Would you be interested in a 300BAR cyclinder if it COULD be found at reasonable $$$? (chasing up a faint lead on one or 2)- do you have a dive shop that can do 300BAR or fire station approved for local BA re-fills because of the need for super clean dry air.

Any luck on the 595 Tikka from your old mate??

I Have had a few outings with the theoben but only at game , no target work, Its very nasty on vermin and at times to easy.!!!
Filling the buddy tank is piss easy and only takes a few minutes to top up, I was told the slower the better.
Lewis has another buddy bottle and multi shot mag on its way for me I think.??
I get about 55-60 shots before you notice a drop of maybe 15-20mm.
I have only shot it at 25 and 50 mtrs and the day I shot the fifty was very gusty but vertically it shot very well, will get a good day hopefully soon to do some testing.(maybe when I get some JSB heavies from Lewis.??)
I have a 227bar 9litre aluminium tank coming and thats about as much as the filling adaptor will handle as it is a yoke or A frame fitting and is only rated to 232bar.
I looked into 300bar tanks and they are very hard to get filled, if you lived in a big coastal city with an outlet close it would be OK, but for me its a trip to the Fire station or a trip to Byron(60klms) to get my 227bar tank filled..
300bar are also a different connector, they are screw in, I think its called a DIN valve,used for higher pressure.
Even most of the dive shops and fire stations are only legally allowed to go to 200-205bar, but are capable of going to 240, If you talk to them they will fill them to 230-240 if you ask nicely and explain what you are using the air for.
Even this way you still have to be careful filling your buddy bottle and be ready to shut it off when it reaches 200bar.
I sent an e-mail to my mate about the tikka but have not heard back as yet , I will follow it up and see.

Hi Damien,
I do have another bottle and magazine for you.The magazine is stuck in Customs but I should have it next week.
The new neck for the CAMO bottle is stuck with it.
Your JSB Exact Heavy .22 samples will leave on Monday.
I'm good for everything or is it nothing????
