With 3 youngsters now about ready, after a lighter, easier to cock, air-rifle than the HW80.

So it'll make way for a 'toy' able to teach the kids about firearm safety, let them plink endlessly around the farm, plus let me control the sparrows around the house.

Any feedback on the Diana 240 ... or any other of the light-weight 0.177 airguns that may be worth consideration?

A make that would be worth considering are the older Baikal's, from the IJ22 on.

Built solid like tractor , and they have much better iron sights than any of the cheapos. They originally came with a good spares kit, too. Mainspring, cleaning rod, and often piston seal.

Found an old Diana 24 for $100 today, are they easily rebuilt, and are parts available???

Yes and yes; they're a simple, basic springer design. Not much more sophisticated than the Chinese Pioneer 61 of my schooldays, but of course much better built.

Me too ... but then I'd find it impossible to sell the old HW80.

Be sure to get it in 0.177 if you prefer not to see the pellet in flight. The next shipment, which includes my HW50S is expected in August. If you want a Winerack I would get your dealer to place the order now. They only bring a handfull of 95s, 30s and 50s in each shipment.

Whose the Weihrauch importer now? This'll definitely be a 0.177 ... cheaper to run, and with the low speeds of the 'beginner' airguns, better the lighter pellets.

Last I heard it was Alcock and Pierce in Victoria. That's going back a few years now though.

It's still A&P Dash. I talk to them regularly but they still insist on bringing in only limited numbers of break barrels. The new HW110 will also be in the next shipment and I understand that an Oz Version of HW97K will also rock up with the new "air stripper/muzzle break" assembly akin to the look of the VMach race break.

It's only taken me 24 months to convince them to go down that track. BUT of course the importers knows best, what we the consumers, need.
