The HW97K getting ready for FT

Post by stinkitup »

So seeing all the stocks and add and shooting Field Target with sporter stocks with the 97 I decided while no funds for a custom stock I could mod the original stock. It already had some small marks in it.

It now wears a stainless hampster, has added some weight but making it a lot better in the standing position and doesn't want to rock around. It may get changed for a hardwood one. Will put some cover tubes over it when it is in its final position. Used a couple of cabinet inserts and bolts, unfortunately when drilling out one of the holes it took a little extra wood :( it is nice and front heavy might have to play with shooting prone now though and see how it actually shoots now.

The adjustable butt pad is just the original with a slot. Added a cabinet insert nuts and bolt and have a cover plate over the butt so the wood isn't exposed.

That's the largest hamster I've ever seen.
Sat at a few bars on one and enjoyed a beer, allowing you to shoot 360 degrees is good though.

Radical ideas aye might take off its a bit heavy but if i can extend the shaft fir standing then it should work nicely. :P :P

The extra weight will help control/minimise the recoil. :D

Bit of an update for the 97.

Got a Morgan adjustable butt pad for Chrissy and the install was very easy, holes lined up perfectly. Filed the base and then fine paper and some autosol to polish and it came up pretty good.

Used some ram ball mounts for the hamster and some hardwood for a new hamster. A lot lighter than the old setup with stainless hamster hanging off of it. Adjustable for different positions and holds tight this is 1 inch balls they go bigger which will hold more weight but these are doing job well.

Whats the maximum magnification range on that scope ?

You need really high mag for the sight picture to snap in and out of focus, and to give you precise range finding.

Unless you bracket which is a pain in the bum.

I didn't see a scope with less than 32 mag when i was last in the UK attending an FT event.
