Looks like too much rigmarole to me, why not just fix it to the end of the barrel with elastic bands as reccommended by the manufacturer?
I've had one for years, never a drama lining it up.

But the good news is it's a common problem and Richard at Combro will repair it

The metal part is so I dont have to align it each time for different rifles. I can just screw it in and go. The problem is when you lend it to someone but they dont remove the bore guide before firing

Thats why I don't use a combro. Can't use it with powder burners either. Very common problem James.

Happens with other types as well mate. Lent my F1 Chrony to someone and they managed to blow the back sensor to the shizen. I got a new replacem e nt as a consequence. That wasn't even with a powder burner. I think it was only a BSA Air Sporter.
They weren't built to be shot at, that for sure.
