Details below
Hornsby Field Target Social comp - all Welcome
Date: Sat 18th July
Time: Arrive from 12:00 for a 1pm kickoff
Venue: North Sydney Smallbore and Air Rifle Club (part of Hornsby Rifle Range Complex, Rosamond St Hornsby)

Conduct of the day
We are running a layout that aligns with standard FT events but can be held in a small course (ie on the range rather than in the bush). Course layout is 5 different positions with a range of targets shot from each position at different ranges. Rifles will be chronoed into over/under 12ft-lbs to fit in with international rules. Shooters compete in teams of three where you take turns to shoot/score/time each other. This format was very successful for previous comps and goes a long way to helping grow the skills of newer shooters as well as grow the bonds between the air rifle fraternity. As with last time, it's a friendly match with participation and creation of interest as the main goal of the day but making it a little more competitive for the more keen shooters. There will also be opportunities prior to the day to attend practice for those interested in doing some extra training.

Location
Hornsby Smallbore and Air Rifle Club is an all weather outdoor 50m range with a covered firing point so the event can still proceed if the weather is poor. Address is Rosamond St Hornsby

Costs
Cost for the day is $25 to cover range expenses, wear and tear on the targets, and a post match BBQ.

Refreshments
The club will provide the venue, and a BBQ afterwards.
Tea and coffee making facilities on site.
Soft drinks and snacks are available for purchase.

Equipment required
You need to bring your own air rifle and pellets. The club has a small supply of RWS Meister Kugeln pellets for sale if needed and I will see if I can organise some pellets for sale.
The club also has a Scoped Break barrel air rifle for use

We have 15 targets of different styles as well as some spinners and paper targets for sighting in.

I have this booked in so will be down with the R9 in 20cal if this is okay.

I might drag the old man along is sharing a rifle okay as far as the course of fire and not holding things up?

Now as this looks to be a regular event what are the rules eg if I was to compete should it be 17 or 22 or is it still open to any cal but under 12ft/lb and over etc.

Stinkitup,

Good to hear you're coming.

Sharing a rifle is fine as you will be in a team of 3 with only one of you shooting at a time. I shared my rifle last time and it was painless.

Our range is only licenced to calibres up to .22 so .20 calibre should be ok. Generally more serious comps (AFAIKT) are not regulated by calibre, only total muzzle energy. If you were to turn up with a 9mm air rifle (assuming our range was covered for it) you would have to have a ridiculously low muzzle velocity to be in the under 12ft lbs category. For this comp, we are most likely to have an "under limit" and "Over Limit" category with the limit set based on the types of rifles attending.

Okay great thanks. I have tried the email but get an error so not sure if the email is correct above.

Now have to see if i can squeeze in some practice beforehand :-). Alao thinking putting the 3-12 back on would be better.

See you next month.

Don't stress too much about a rifle. I'll probably be dragging 3 along anyway, and Matt usually has the same numbers. Plenty to go round mate. :D

What scope have you got on the rifle now?

PS Jeez. Stonechucker looks so handsome with his Bandana. :stir:

Currently it has a G&R 2-7 which is nice and clear but was planning on putting the 3-12 back on, the 3-12 has a stepped reticle which may help or may just confuse me lol.

Hi guys,

Getting close to the next comp so who's coming?

I am going to be away for this one but Matw975 will be running the show. Some new rifles to try out and some new targets and spinners to give some more variety.

Sing out if you're coming so we can plan for numbers.

Thanks.

+2 people here

only have the 9 spinners at this stage, might be able to whack a few together on Thur nite & Sat morning depending on the noise :\
Parents are in town - so lost last weekend.

5 lanes - thats almost 2 spinners per lane, use them for all the close stuff at least - should make a difference.

Not coinciding with the business end of my trip JWD but will definitely be at the August event. Can I assume that it will be the 16/8/15 given that Newcastle is on 2/8/15?
