Looks like fun.

Not that I'm aware of Gary. If there was I would be there.

Might have to look into it a bit deeper and get a few targets.

Yeah true I know a little property just up the road that would be perfect for it. But ild mate is getting a little past it. I think they shoot air rifle off hand and benchrest at newcastle small bore club. I wonder if they are open Tuesday nights I have some time to kill Tues night.

Spent a bit of time this morning with an air rifle shooter that shoots at Newy,
no one does it but could be a bit of interest he also mentioned a fellow from
Sydney that imports a bit of gear that would be willing to help set a range up
don't know about fallout area etc but have some one that's has a bit of ground
we could have a social shot on, might get my finger out eh.

Surely the fallout would be a lot less. If something could ve organised I would def be keen to try. As long as no one kines me using the 20cal. Would be good excuse for a good 17 if it was regular enough.
Would something like the shottie field shoot areas be useable I wonder?

I will be using a 22, I will be definitely looking into some targets.

Yeah from a quick look around not sure cal matters. An official match might restrict power but not for us hacks.
Do targets have to be the flip down variety. I downloaded some plans years ago for some resettable versions.
Found the SSAA guidlines and is more about energy than cal.
Targets are standard 40mm and will be knockdown and re-settable from the firing line.
Can have some that are 15 or 25mm.
And a min 8 m and max 50 m there abouts.
So pretty straight forward.

From what I can gather you hit a ''kill'' area generally 40mm but not limited to on a silhouette target and down she goes,
pull a cord to reset, I would love to go to Canberra and have a look at the nationals but think I will run out of time.
Will do some searching for info later.
Hope some one will chime in and set me straight.

That's a good link Stinkitup.
Something I have seen on targets is a pocket for the front washer so that smaller washers could be slid in to reduce the size of the kill zone. You could use the same size washer to fit the pocket, but tack weld a smaller washer in front of it. This way the same target can be used for kneeling shots, etc, with a smaller kill zone. The washers were painted different colours for different sizes so that you couls see which was an offhand shot (largest kill zone) kneeling (medium) or sitting (smallest).
Good luck with this. FT is great fun, although on sloping ground a status of Yoga Master would help for the sitting shots!

There are a few guys on the Central Coast, me included that are interested in local FT comps.
