Does anyone know if it is possible to buy a silent pellet trap here in Aus?
Or have plans how to make one?

The Beeman Silent Trap won't hold up long with a hot 97.

Hi Lewis,

I didn't see them on your site so thought you didn't sell them.

I suppose I could make a deeper one. It doesn't look that difficult.

Hi HAIR BEAR,

I'm good thanks, except I was going down the range today but the car won't start.

I remember the carpet one. I think I will try with rags in a box first as that is easy and cheap.

I use the good old beer carton stuffed full of newspapers and cardboard.
Properly packed in it will stop 24ftp .22 pellets.
I use it in my shed and I don't get any complaints from my neighbours,(Their kitchen window is 4 metres from my shed),so it is as near to silent as you can get.
Crack a few coldies and enjoy a quiet shot or two next day.
Cheers Ray.

Cheers Ray,
I'll do that.
I've stuffed my cardboard box with rags instead of folded newspapers and that is already much better. Haven't tried with the .22LR yet though.
Can't get enough of the AR. I'm so happy to have one again after waiting so long.

I think I'm being a little paranoid as my nearest neighbors are 150 meters away through trees!
I don't want them to know I am shooting up here but now I'm asking myself why I should care. I'm not breaking any laws.

ER Makka,
I don't think I would use your .22lr powder burner on the beer carton trap mate, could be a whole other outcome!
The 24ftp .22 that I referred to is an air rifle! The beer carton pellet trap works quite well with it.
Happy/Safe/Silent airgunning mate!
Ray.

yup, saw that the first time mate!
A great idea and one I may get to at some point but the rags are the go right now.
Might have to restrict the powderburner to the range and cats/foxes.
I wonder how I can tempt them onto the block so I can shoot the b**stards.

yep, rags in box work great.

also, grab some duct tape and one of those huge paper clips (the ones for holding a whole lot of pages together) and tape it to the box. great way to hold printed targets.

Yes carpet traps are great also, but don,t make the blue I made and use old carpet from a pub bar floor. Apart from the pong,I couldn,t see the targets for the dust it raised when the slugs hit it!
Thats me tho anything cheap is always snapped up!
Ray.

I'm so cheap I am using medical tape which I had a few rolls of from having the tattoo.
That way I can move the targets up and down a little to make the eventual hole in the box a bit bigger.

Like the idea though. May go that way eventually.
I'm guessing I can rescrunch the rags and re-use for a while.

I "forgot how much more powerful the .22LR is and shot a few with that.
Oh dear. Lots of stuffing out the back!
Nice group though . Amazing how much easier it is to shoot than the 97.
Way less recoil.
