Well here it is!! 22cal, Bushnell 4-12 XLT Trophy 600DOA scope. I installed the maccari spring, which was not so fun but easy enough. At first I was not really impressed with how it was performing, was all over the shop. It was dieseling as well. I thought what the hell, have nothing to lose so I installed the Maccari I found a bit of lube on the front of the piston seal so I cleaned it up.

After installing, it was still dieseling and not shooting really well at all. Well after around 120 shots things got better. Dieseling stopped, and accuracy stepped up. Shooting H&N 14.6grain TFF. The Maccari made it smoother and less vibration. The trigger was also full of massive creep, but since adjusted it is very very nice, and most springers have shocking triggers.



Five five shot groups. Adjusted zero. Rest was a cushion on a wheelie bin. Distance 20m.

Wont be getting any pellets for a long while. have 2000 of the ones I have, and they shoot god enough. $24 f0r 500 shots is cheap good fun!

Grabbed a HW50 of Native Hunter a few years back.Lewis had had a play with it and the accuracy at 10m was astounding.
Mrs Missed shot her first rabbit with and proceeded to out shoot T Thompson on more than one occasion.I believe it is the reason why Trevor bought his springer.I wish we still had an air rifle they are a lot of cheap fun

Yep, cheap as chips and a bucket load of fun!

I have 3 air rifles in the safe, and get to play with each on a regular basis. And I reckon every one was a bargain!

I am generally not a air rifle aficionado, but that is one sweet looking / shooting rifle.

Honestly Mick, air rifles can be the most demanding, most annoying, most wonderful things.....and if you want to learn to read wind, try shooting a 1" group at 50 with an air rifle! And then take it further....try reading Yrrah's posts.

What can I say, but get a PCP and get into it!

haha well funny you should say that, the missus and I were talking about an air rifle for the young fella to start practicing with (he is 6).
So it may yet be on the cards.

As for the wind reading, it will quite probably help with Target Rifle shooting as well.

Well I can say with confidence that I learnt more about reading the wind with the air rifle than I did with the 22lr. And the stuff I learnt has given me an advantage in competition over blokes who would normally kick my butt, on the occassions where it was blowing a gusty gale, and suddenly I started to shine.

Air rifles are a great way of learning technique and conditions. And perfect for bringing kids into the sport.

As I only replaced the spring with the maccari the only lube I used was the maccari spring tar. Its super thick grease. The rest of the mechanism I left with the factory lube.

The tar does quiet things down a bit. Too much will slow a gun down, same goes for the moly.

My FWB 127 has a full spring and seal kit and his tar and moly. And a fair bit of polishing.

My Diana 350 gut some polishing and his lubes. Great improvement. I have a spring, seal and rear guide here for it also.

As you probably know, springers bed in with use.

I reckon you are on the money with your pellet choice.
