Cleaning up stippling

Hi fellas,

I want to clean up my FWB300 a little bit. There’s no need for refinishing, etc, but the stippling is a bit discoloured in spots, presumably from sweaty hands over the years.

Can I just go at this with some warm soapy water, or is there something else I should be considering?

And once clean, how should I treat it? I still have some orange oil from Lewis that I could use.......

Thanks for the help.

Cheers, curan

Curan, the dark patches are the colour it should be mate, those light coloured bits are the bare timber colour showing through from underneath.

The long and short of it is that you've worn it out in which case you should give it to me :P (I can never have enough 300s's).

Seriously, give it a good clean with a mild degreaser (believe it or not Spray 'n' Wipe works really well) dry it off well and then re-stain your stippled/grip panels with a good walnut stain and then lightly finish over the top of it with some CCL gun stock finish or wax (CCL is the ducks nuts, I used to get it off Lewis, 2 or 3 drops goes a very long way) and it will look like new with just an hour or so :D of easy work.

Thanks for that Chris, I'll have a go.

And if Lewis should read this, do you have any other CCL left in your old stock? Otherwise, I'll hunt elsewhere..........

cheers, Wayne.

........oh, and I should mention, bad luck Chris, as firstly it's not a 300s, it's a little older (a plain 300, no "s"), and secondly, it's not that worn out yet, so thirdly, you're not getting it......

Hi Wayne,

I was out of CCl years ago. Great product but you'll find the Gilly Stephenson products great too. I have Orange oil and Lemon Oil in stock.

Hi Lewis,

Well that will be good , as I actually still have some orange oil you supplied me with a while back, so I'll use that.

Thanks very much!
