the hw97k (.177) has arrived YAY!!!!!!

here it is with my R7, it has a simmons 4 - 12x 40 scope. have to get used to it since never really shot with scopes before always open sights.

Image

heavy and solid, great shooter. sights make a hell of a difference....i can REALLY see how bad i wobble

punches holes in cans at 57m no problem, need to make some better targets.....

anyway back to work.....i think....just 1 more shot.....maybe 2.......

cheers

as if I could resist that!

Nice one.
I saw this when i visited Lewis and his gun room a month or two ago.
What a great collection! It's like Santa's grotto in there.

It's a really nice rifle. I like pure wood though.
I thought everybody wobbled?
Hope you enjoy it. (the gun, not the wobbling)

It seems waiting is in my stars at the moment.
I'm needing to buy a new motorcycle as I'm too old and feeble for the one I've got at the moment and I'm gonna have to wait until October/November for that!
I need to learn some patience anyway.
I'm trying not to bug Lewis too much!

What a beautiful thing.

With scopes we all wobble, even those who say they don't. What I do is sight them in at 12 power then wind them back to four or six power for hunting etc. The wobble is still there but you just don't see it as much at the lower powers.

Enjoy!!

don't scopes improve you group size ! i just fitted the BSA 3-12 on my R9 and had a quick sight and you could cover 10 shots with a 20 c piece :D

they certainly do.
You'll be down to ten cents and then five soon!
At twenty meters anyway.
The secret with the wobble is to watch it very carefully and catch a pattern then you will be able to predict when you will be on the bull and squeeze off at the right time. (as well as all the other stuff)
But then maybe I'm teaching my gran how to suck eggs.
I hope you know that expression and don't think I'm some kind of pervert.

HB: after a bit of fine tuning my groups are getting smaller. when the rain eases i am going to set up some targets at 50 - 60 m, i can hit cans everytime so will set up some paper and really zero in

mak: thanks for that but it is what i am doing, just trying to get the consistency now

fenring: IT'S NOT EASY BEING GREEN!!!!!!

gee it's heavy though

cheers

Mate, that is precisely why many of us love our R9s for hunting. :D But I'm sure you will be happy with the HW 97.

99% of my shooting is targets so it will do fine... :D
if i start hunting that would mean another gun.....

i have very few hunting opportunities a part from cane toads and the odd cat. when it dries out a will be checking out a property for rabbits

cheers

G'day astro
how are you ?
how are your groups coming along ?
mate since i have put the scope on my R9 , the grouping of the jbs pellets are excellent :D 5 shots 10c piece 18 metres ,very happy with that :D
the HW97 , heavy as in heaveir than your R7 ?
i find a little weight helps with the wobble , alot more stable :D

spending my time shooting out the backyard, trying to refine my distance adjustments. was going to shoot some 25m groups tomorrow, atm i am having fun blasting cans out to 60m.

i have just been using the FTs but will do a comparison tomorrow with the JSB

yes heavy as in A LOT heavier than R7, but it helps with the recoil, its pushing out 14 fpe for the FTS :D

i have put 350 pellets through and i can feel it in my shoulders, but it is all good i'll just have to htfu....

cheers

I looked at that gun a couple of times while at Lewis's. Seeing it there makes me think maybe I should have bought it after all. Can't have em all. Very nice. The positive for the weight is it is very stable to shoot. Enjoy.
