AIR RIFLE BREAK IN

Post by HAIR BEAR »

G'day all
i understand that spring type A/R require around 500 -1000 pellets through them to get them settled , my question is what pellet weight for choosen calibre , shoot the heavyest ( don't think i spelt that right ) or the lightest pellets ???? and why do you think that ???
my taught is the heavier pellets would make the A/R work harder to get the pellet going , there for settle the A/R more !!
does that sound right or am i just plying with silly ideas

thanks

Just shoot it HB.It's an airgun not a car.
It has enough grunt to drive the heavy JSB's.

G'day HairBear,

I'm waiting on my PTA. Expecting to get it about the 12th July.
No you haven't put me out. I hope you get it soon so I can enjoy your pleasure vicariously.
But I have to say I'm REALLY hoping that those R9's arrive and get through customs (unmarked) before then so I don't have to wait even longer.
I started the whole process on 15th March so every extra day would be torture.
Anyway, Lewis does so much for all of us (sure he gets paid but of course he should) so if I can do him a favour then why not?
Anyway, I've waited so long that I'm practically used to it.
I'm sure it must be good for me somehow.

What's a PITA? I've heard it from Lewis and Astro now but have no idea and can't work it out.

HB
Just finished my first 400 JSB last weekend with Native Hunter. The R9 is starting to settle in quite nicely. Checked all the screws no problems.

Believe it or not it shoots its tightest group off the shoulder, tried it on the bench rest and no where near as tight a group. Good old harmonic action.

You won't be disappointed.

Springers will NEVER shoot off a bench!!! The more powerful they are,the worse they group.Always shoot them off the shoulder.
Do I get sick of benchrest shooters complaining about their springer's "accuracy"? Let me bore you to death!!
